“Heylo housing just take take take your money, put your rent up, service charge, building maintenance up… but when it comes to cleaning of the communal areas, lighting in the carparks, they don’t want to know. False promises about getting it cleaned and maintained but why should we pay more when this isn’t done!”

“Avoid at all costs, there shared ownership scheme is an absolute scam. You pay rent on the part they own, they charge you a monthly lease management fee (even though we haven't heard from them in the 2 years we've lived here and then when you try to buy more shares they make it as difficult and expensive as possible. Do not get sucked it. Go for a smaller house that you can avoid outright and avoid this scam!”

“Avoid buying a shared ownership with heylo housing there bandits. My rent has gone up 60 in less than 2 years. You ring them up with a problem they’re not interested in talking to you. They can’t wait to get off the phone to you it’s like your talking to a bunch of wet weekends can’t wait to sell up”

“What an awful experience! We bought 50% of our home 5 years ago with Haylo, thinking buying the other 50% would be relatively straightforward.......... how wrong we were! We started the ball rolling with our mortgage broker 6 months before our fixed rate ended, which we were assured would be plenty of time. If we were dealing with a competent company, I'm sure it would have been. Haylo received everything they needed 3 months before we were due to complete. Unfortunately, despite being chased by both our solicitors and theirs, we were ignored for months! Our due completion date (early October) came and went without any correspondence from Haylo. We had to pay for an extension on our RICS valuation (at our own cost) due to this, and now, 2 months after we were due to complete, (5 months after Haylo received all of our paperwork) we are still waiting! Our extension has now expired, meaning we have to pay for a brand new full valuation, again, at our own cost. Since we threatened legal action in the early part of November, we have been given 3 completion dates by Haylo, the latest one being today (November 27th) all of which have sailed by. We have been hit with a variable rate mortgage which is approximately £200 per month more than it was, all the while paying an ever increasing rent to Haylo. I won't be surprised at all if we never complete on our house, despite our mortgage offer and everything else been in place since early July. Please, if you're thinking of entering into joint ownership with Haylo, DON'T! It has been so stressful I 100% believe we would have been better off selling up and living under a bridge! The lack of communication would be laughable if it wasn't so serious, and being told that an overshoot of 2 months is normal by Haylo, only makes things worse! Avoid at all costs!”

“We made a offer on a property at the full value which haylo approved only for haylo at the 11th hour to pull the plug and and confirm they were not willing to approve the sale, we can walk away from the deal unfortunately the poor person who has a 60% share can not the amount of stress & anxiety this has caused is unforgivable.”

“Avoid this company or have a house you're unable to sell. Bought a house from Heylo housing in 2000. Been trying to sell my 50% since July 2022. I paid for property to be valued gave them 8 weeks to sell only for it to fall thorough as the 1 person they referred failed the checks. They withdrew the advert when this person made an offer. In Jan its been staircased & advertised on open market to find out that the developers who Heylo originally purchased the property from have submitted the wrong map to land registry. This wasn't picked up by Heylos solicitors, it wasn't picked up by the solicitors they reccomended when I purchased my 50% share. After approx 4 months of waiting the purchasers have now pulled out & the developers & Heylo still can't decide who needs to complete the paperwork to sort this mess out. 12 months I've been paying rent & a mortgage when it should have been an easy sale of a new build property with no chain involved. No one will accept responsibility or provide any timescales as to when this situation will be resolved.”

“We genuinely felt in such safe hands with Heylo, although there was limited communication it reassured us that if there was limited contact there was nothing to worry about. Choosing to go shared ownership was never an option for us until the pandemic hit, and actually we’re so glad we did as we’re now 2 months in our beautiful house. Also a very sweet welcome hamper too was a very personal touch. Thank you Heylo Housing, highly recommend.”

“Thanks to Heylo (and builder Russell Armer Homes) I managed to achieve what had only been a dream.....owning my own home. Their shared ownership scheme worked out far cheaper than typical mortgage or renting. The application forms (including local council qualifications) took a little time to complete but Tim at Heylo was on hand to support throughout the process. The lease paperwork was clear and easy to understand, including the breakdown for monthly costs and how to increase ownership to 100% in the future. Overall very happy to have discovered Heylo and been lucky enough to find a lovely property with their help.”
