Thanks to Halfords I no longer have a complete service record as even though the garages tell you your online service records would be completed Halfords have seemingly decided they are having a break from it . NEVER AGAIN

Halfords are hands down THE worst retailer I’ve ever dealt with. Can’t be bothered to waste time / effort on a lengthy review. But, my advice would be to avoid at all costs. I will be a lifetime advocate for never, ever using Halfords!

If there's a half star, I would click on that It's been a whole year that I hold my words not to complain by writing, unfortunately, the recent cases really need to be reflected/to let someone concern and never go for it 1/. Scam : First try to join the membership last March, cos there's nearby Halford for my MOT, after checking they called me saying front screen wipes needed to be changed, I pay extra to change, the point is that wipes' quality is awful and much worser than my old pairs, my husband back from the trip mentioned in fact he just changed a pair of expensive one just a month before my MOT check 2/. Poor Service : When I picked my car, the staff said everything was alright, but the "Service" light is on, I asked why is that, he simply replied " well we can't fix it, maybe you need to go back to Peoguet for fixing it, may I ask why I need to came here then? 3/. Cancellation of membership : It's been paying by autopay on my credit card, right after the 1st payment in March last year, I already requested for cancellation because of the above services, they said you CANNOT cancel it until 12mth later in April 2024, but then, right after the payment of this year, I called and tried live chat few times for requesting a cancellation also to make sure NO "auto renew"/"auto payment" , it's always coming back with the same sentence " our dedicated team would contact by email or call within 24-72hours" , NEVER ! Not even once after my 4th trying to cancel the membership, such time wasting and scam, cos if I cannot cancel it, that would definitely auto renew in 18th April by the reply " I would like to inform you that if a premium membership renews then it will be charged from the card which has been ended during the signing-up".... There's no direct phone or email or online unsubscribe for cancellation ? Am awaiting another round of the so called dedicated team now, cross finger

Firstly, the website for booking online is shockingly bad, I made two attempts to book a service using their Payment Assist scheme - the first timed out, the second seemed to go through but I didn't receive an email confirmation and nothing showed up on my account. Halfords online chat had no record of the booking, so I called Payment Assist and they had my payment details and said I needed to contact Halfords again and ask them to connect the order with the payment. Halfords, now on the phone, had no record of the order either, even though my payment details and finance plan had gone through. At one point I was put through to the actual garage who said the day I wanted was fully booked - and yet, if you went on to the website it still allowed you to book that day! There was no real connectivity between Halfords, the finance plan company and the garages. Oh and when I first booked I was quoted £137 but when I checked again after speaking to customer service it was now £165. Never again am I going through all that hassle.

Paid for number plates to be supplied and fitted at their edge lane store in Liverpool They put them on with double sided sticky tape. They have fallen off. In my view their fitting service is not fit for purpose I've complained to resolutionexpert at halfords dot co dot uk. For clarity I don't have an issue with the engineer that stuck them on he was just doing his best, he told me it was the best that he could do. It is unacceptable to advertise a fitting service that replies on double sided sticky tape. The printing of the plates is pretty slick, its just a shame their staff are not trained to fit plates properly.

Booked a MOT and full service for my car. Took it in but only the MOT guy turned up so had to re-book service for the following week. Within 1 mile of leaving the garage engine light came on and stayed on. Booked it in again for a diagnostic and they said they had fixed it. I also asked for the rear brake pad warning light to be dealt with - it wasn't. Now engine light came on again within 3 miles. Took car to a PROPER garage and they found: Engine light was due to a hose not connected to the air system, brake sensor needed changing, sump plug washer not installed so oil leak and the cover covering the sump plug had gone.

Halfords replaced 4no. Pirelli tyres on my Q5, with their mobile (driveway) service in Jan 2024. They took the wheel locking nut and jack without telling me. No communication and shocking customer service

My Halfords E-Bike displayed "error 500" I took it into Halfords Burnley 12 weeks ago - still haven't got it back. And there has been a pathetic ongoing litany of wrong diagnosis, mis-communications, errors, lame excuses, and parts "lost in transit" Honestly, I think that the people in the store doing the repairs do their best but they are obviously working in a neglected and under-funded part of the Halfords business. Halfords put a lot of investment into sales and marketing , but seem to put no resource at all into bike service and repairs. i won't be buying another bike from them.

I had a bad experience this morning when I came to check my car head light. I went garage reception . They asked me to go to main reception. I informed the issue. One of the staff came but he didn’t check the car instead replaced the bulb which was good. but he couldn’t find out what was the issue. So I had to pay 22 pounds good for nothing for 2 minutes work.and back in the garage reception no appointment for next 3 days… my money I wasted without any benefits.

Use to love Helford's and supporting British business. Sorry Helford's use to spend a lot of money with you. Not any more.....Part number 152859 Front LEFT Brake disc I am told I have to buy two, as they only sell them in pairs. That's correct apparently I need two brake discs for one wheel the lady told me. The same also applies to the RIGHT Front Brake disc part number 153867. Two different part numbers, one for each side of the car. I am told I have to buy x4 discs for two wheels as there web site will not allow me to buy a single disc, and I am stupid so I am told, as they only sell in pairs. So going on that logic a pair for left fronts and a pair of Right fronts who is the stupid one here....HELP....Really what is wrong with the world....Thanks Helford's for up selling me something I don't need and for telling me if I'm not happy to go to Euro car parts. That's good business, well done customer service rep for telling me this and also telling me to do one. Only reason I went to you in the first place is you have an offer on.....Oh dear guys not great, I am a really chilled out guy but this did frustrate me.

Would not recommend buying from here. I had so many issues buying my sons bike. I complained and 2 weeks later still no call back. The staff member in Grimsby store ( natalie I think her name ) was very rude and had a awful attitude, the bike was 3 days late . Plus more issues. Shocking service and feel very let down

I don't normally leave reviews but feel the need. 26th Jan I order 4 tyres for my X5. I was emailed a few days latter via email to be told they only had 2 of the tyres I wanted. I replied to the email with no reply from Halfords. Phone them to get a South African call centre and was told they didn't have the Tyres. The order was cancelled on The 29th January in the morning. Thant afternoon they then took £345 for tyres they didn't have on a cancelled order. I have raised a case with Paypal and today I used a phone number given to me front a Halford Garage to complain only to get the same person in South Africa I spoke to on the 29th Jan.

I booked a battery replacement for my Mercedes C-class. The fitter came within the time slot but in a National Tyre van, unmarked on one side. I did not get a Halfords own-brand start & stop 80aH battery, as he told me they were having supply difficulties, but an 82aH Exide one. I wasn't bothered by that, as I know my battery brands. He struggled to put back the lower battery holding clamp, which was hard to access - that was the fault of Mercedes's bad design. Then the car would not start, showing error codes which were clearly wrong. He said he had no diagnostic equipment, told me to call Halfords - and drove off. I called and a very friendly lady organised a follow-up warranty visit 2 days later. She seemed to expect this kind of call and waived the charge for this second visit. The technician (who came in an unmarked van) plugged in his diagnostics equipment, cleared up error codes, and the he car started again. But he could not solve an error code about the active bonnet system (pedestrian protection in case of a collision). After he had gone, I found a video on YouTube of an Indian technician fixing that problem - caused by a broken cable connexion. So I went and looked, and found that the original fitter had accidentally disconnected a connector in his struggle with the retaining bracket. I reconnected that and all was well. Otherwise I would, at the 2nd technician's suggestion, have had to take the car to a garage (my independent Mercedes specialist), and send the bill to Halfords, if the garage determined that the problem had been caused by them. All inconvenient. I chose Halfords because of the convenience of fitting at my home, and the price, which was indeed competitive. Their technicians were cheerful and friendly but they seemed to lack the training and (in the case of the first one) the equipment do this kind of job - which is hardly a complicated one. A pity, as I am a strong supporter of the independent automotive aftermarket and this is just the sort of thing a well-resourced service chain should be able to do. It was fortunate that I know my way around cars at least a little bit.

Reading/ tilehurst garage Went to this garage to have 2 tyres replaced and the tracking done. It took 3 days to get my car back and they didn’t even get the tracking done. So dropped the car off on a Tuesday morning at 7.45 got a call about lunchtime saying i needed 2 new tyres and it was too late to get them delivered today so would have to wait until tomorrow.now I’m self employed I don’t get paid for days off. The next day I waited for a update until lunchtime and phoned them apparently they couldn’t get the locking wheel nut undone and they have to get someone in to do this as they can’t do it and it won’t be until the next day another day off I’m fuming by now. The next day waited for an update and phoned them again about lunchtime and told there just finished another job and I’m next so should be done in a couple of hours I waited nothing so after 3 hours I walked down there which is 2 miles away and it still wasn’t ready. I waited for at least half an hour finally i was told they had done the tyres but haven’t done the tracking. The reason the car was in the garage was the tyres were completely bold on the outside because the tracking was out. Now I’m really angry after a lot of shouting they booked me in for the Saturday at 12.30 and are going to do it for free. So take the car home in the dark and drive the 45 miles to work the next day in the dark by the time I get there it’s light I have a look at the wheels and there’s a nut missing from each tyre I could not believe that they didn’t replace the nuts or even tell me. Go down there Saturday and they say that they can’t do it as the ramp isn’t free if you leave it with them they will try and get it done but no guarantee. That was the last straw phoned there complaints department and waiting for them to get back to me but I’m not holding my breath. I am a returning customer and I have been very happy with the service I received before but this time has been the worst experience I’ve ever had. Absolutely shocking. My wife’s car was in a different garage and she mentioned my experience to them and he said they were getting a lot of Halfords customers in after they had bad experiences. That pretty much sums it up Here’s my case number from customer service 22195898 spoke to them a couple of days ago. Said there get back to me, still waiting! Update Had communication with customer service via emails and eventually got the car booked in at a different Halfords garage in Reading had a appointment made by customer service for 11.30 turn up and are told they could not do but might have time if I leave the car. I told customer service l can’t leave the car. Another complete balls up this time customer service. Date of experience: 13 January 2024
