Used the reglazing service. Glasses were back to me in 2 days. Fantastic service. Why would anyone use the high street.

I was so impressed by my first pair of glasses from glassesframesandlenses I ordered a 2nd pair. What can I say - faultless service, superb product and excellent quality - again!

I didn't think service like this existed in this impersonal digital age. Professional informative advice, freely given, my glasses, lenses, tints and coatings recommended for me based on my specific needs all at a considerable saving, all this plus coffee, mince pie and a kiss from Bella, what's not to like, Bob Savage

I've needed an eye test for some time, but have never got around to it. GF&L offer a free eye test on Saturdays & this also suited me as I didn't have to break into my working week. GFL is easy to get to in Long Bennington, being seconds / just off the A1 mid way between Grantham & Newark. Lots of free parking, coffee, tea, water & biscuits & sweets are all made available. I went with my 11 year old son & he was quite happy. Excellent service, courteous, friendly, knowledgable & professional staff. Clean & pleasant environment with plenty of space to relax whilst you wait (not long). Nice choice of designer frames, maybe not the largest choice in store but plenty more choice available on their website. It only took 90 minutes for my test, select the frames & I left wit my new glasses. OK so I only needed my first pair of reading glasses but the service was efficient, prompt & friendly. Everyone seems to enjoy working there & providing an excellent service. I would highly recommend GF&L to anyone. I will use them again for eye tests & subsequent frames & lenses if & when required. I certainly will not be heading into one of the big names in a town or city as this was so convenient & the prices are competitive & good value for money.

With my very high prescription, I was a little apprehensive about using an online service. I've always had 1.9 glass but Liz very patiently and promptly answered all my endless questions about glass v plastic double aspheric so I took the plunge and sent my glasses off for reglazing. I am really pleased with the result - I now have my first pair of plastic 1.76 DA lenses and wouldn't hesitate to recommend glassesframesand lenses as both friendly and extremely price competitive v the high street.

Fantastically helpful for my very high prescription. My new glasses are I think the best I have ever had ! The lenses must be very good quality as they give really sharp clear vision. The prescription was for reading but I have found that by pushing them really close I can see distance as well. I just let them slip down a bit for reading. I understand that GFL asked the suppliers to re-make the lenses as the first ones were thicker than they needed to be. As my prescription is +33 I am grateful for anything that improves their appearance. I seem to have a much wider field of vision through the new glasses. Although I wear contacts most I inadvertently drove down to the shops while still wearing my glasses. I did not realise what I had done till I got back home and it just goes to show how good the glasses are. I will have to make sure I don't do it again. Thanks for all the help to everyone at GFL,

Just got my re-glazed glasses back. Excellent! Took 3 working days (including postage) and cost just over one quarter the cost quoted by Boots Opticians in Rugby (they would take 1 week) Great clarity etc etc.

Read this if you're buying sunglasses! I chose 60% graduated grey tint (the darkest tint available on the drop down menu) and was very disappointed with the result: completely clear when help up to the light. When I phoned to ask if there had been a mistake I was told that was normal for a 60% tint and that a sunglasses tint would normally be more like 85% (not an option on the drop down menu when selecting your sunglasses tint). In addition, I was told that 'Glasses Frames & Lenses' (GFL) have no control over the graduated tint effect and that it's possible to get a lens cut from the lighter part or the darker part. I think this information should be made available when buying sunglasses online, nevertheless a very helpful Tina agreed to remake my sunglasses with an 85% graduated tint (although I had to pay the postage) insisting they would look like a pair of sunglasses you might buy in a sunglasses shop. On receiving this second attempt I was equally disappointed with no notable difference from the first pair - a colleague at work agreed they were as good as clear when held up to a window. This time I spoke to Amanda who said she packed my sunglasses herself and felt they were sufficiently tinted - something I find hard to believe having seen them myself. However, Amanda did offer to remake my sunglasses a third time with a full 85% grey tint (again, sadly without offering to cover postage). So, finally I am happy with my sunglasses now that they have a tint, but it's still not a very dark tint so I would recommend phoning the company and requesting this darker 85% tint when you place an order. On the positive side the lenses are definitely made to prescription, and they also look well made with the anti-reflective coating and a nice chamfered edge which you don't see on a cheap pair of sunglasses. I chose 1.59 polycarbonate lens which resulted in a nice thin lens for my -2.5 distance prescription. Of course I was very happy that GFL offered to remake my sunglasses twice, but I feel this could've easily been avoided with a little more information available on the website when selecting tinted lenses... so hopefully this review will help you avoid the same issues :-)

For me the test of a good business is how it handles customers when problems arise. In my case I have a very big + prescription (over +10 with astigmatism) and am knowledgable enough that I easily fall into the irritating customer catagory. I ordered a re-glaze with the 1.74 double aspheric lens option which at £160 is allot cheaper than anything I've seen on the high street. When I received my spectacles I was very dissapointed - they were very thick with poor edge finishing. I suspected stock blanks had been used and contacted Amanda. She immediately appologised and requested by lenses back to she could improve them. What folowed was a slightly longer than average wait as Amanda and her team fought on my behaf to get the order as good as possible. They even sendt a second pair back to the lab and only on the third attempt did they send the finished article back to me. The resut was excellent - a very thin lens with beautiful edge finishing and asphericity on both sides as promised. Is this a company I would use again? Yes. They admitted mistakes, put the customer first and at no point did I feel they wanted to fob me off or want me to go away. That's the mark of a good company - customer first. Thanks. This is the 3rd time in 4 years that I have purchased spectacles from Glasses Frames and Lenses and each time I have been totally satisfied with the product and service I have received. Absolutely delighted with the speed and quality of service. My first reglaze order with Glasses Frames and Lenses and would be pleased to shop here again. I have previously ordered similar from elsewhere; the quality of lens and workmanship from Glasses Frames and Lenses feels superior and they also arrived clean without fingerprints - a first from any of the online and high-street services I've used! I did order the reglaze service for 2 pairs of my own frames ( for myself and my wife ) and was initially a little bit hesitant, because both frames were very expensive and I never used this kind of postal distant service before. The job was done quickly and at the highest possible level, the advice and communication were very good and I can highly recommend now this Company to anyone. I will definitely use them again in the future.

I purchased my glasses (ICY7) 2years ago. The lenses and coating are standing up well to everyday use but one of the frame arms came adrift after 15 months and I have to glue it back. As I live in Spain it was not practical for me to send the glasses back to the UK. I never contacted GF&L so I do not know what sort of reaction I would have had. With regard to whether I would purchase again, yes I would but choose my Frames very differently next time. How would I rate their service, Very good for price and delivery and quality of lenses.
