I didn’t have a good start they took ages to get my box fitted there Delay then threatened to cancel my insurance because the box hadn’t been fitted, then I couldn’t log in to my online account to upload my no claims so they cancelled it during xmas period when I couldn’t speak to anyone in that department, then charge me a premium for my no claims so basically my no claims mean nothing now because of the charge then to they charged me £35 admin fee and didn’t change my direct debit so it bounced and I got a fee off the bank a marker on my credit report so all in all it’s not been a good start I pray I never have to use them for a claim

After paying my insurance for the year in full before it was due and had the black box fitted I was told the man who came to fit it would check my no claims bonus, he told me he had already seen it. I then received several emails to say I they hadn't received my no claims to which I replied by sending it by post. Another full amount was taken out christmas eve which took my full overdraft and was left without money over the festive period. I wouldn't recommend them and after my year finishes I will be doing elsewhere. I did finally get some money refunded but still have bank charges to pay. . .

Never had problems with contacting the company but the black box scores me very low on acceleration and braking when I’m doing neither too much?
Helpful Report
Posted 4 years ago
Hi, The acceleration and braking looks at how smoothly you build and drop speed. The more gradual and smooth these are the better the score will be. If you would like to discuss this further please send us a private response with your details. Thanks, Vicky

No matter how low revs and how slow I accelerate black box penalises it and needs to be measured more accurately

Hi Ethan, The boxes are tested rigorously to make sure they are accurate, If you can send us a private response with your details we can go through this with you. Thanks, Vicky

It seems good in theory. But I drive an automatic. So it doesn't always change gears when it should. This has negatively affected my score. And I can't fix it because I am not in control of that. Unfair. Can't wait to get different insurance.

Hi, Having an automatic should not affect your scores as long as you still drive smoothly. The braking and acceleration looks at how smoothly you pick up and drop down speed. The smoother and more gradual this is the better the score will be. Now changing gears can help with this however it's not what is recorded. if you'd like to discuss this further please send us a private response with your details. Thanks, Vicky

I think insurance companies are failing their duties. It is not your responsibility to control and monitor my movements and how I drive. The idea of a black box must not be compulsory. I.m paying my money and all you have to do is tell me how much is my monthly instalment. Remove the black box. You are controlling people's lives instead of running your business.

Hi, We're sorry to read you're unhappy. It is up to you to choose if you wish to take up a black box policy or not. With black box insurance, it's there to help reduce your insurance cost by showing you drive safer. The safer you drive the less likely you are to be involved in an accident. It also provides accident alert so if the box detects you may have been involved in an accident it will alert us and we will try to ring you and check your ok. If we believe you need help we will call emergency services. Along with this, it's a theft tracker so if your car is stolen we can track and recover it for you. Thanks, Vicky

Hi, We're sorry to read how you feel. It is up to you to choose if you wish to buy a telematics policy or not. The box looks at how safely you drive to give you the opportunity to reduce the cost of the insurance. This is because in a lot of cases a person may be statistically classed as a high risk for making a claim, such as younger, less experienced drivers, people with previous claims or convictions. However, in reality, they may actually be safer. The box allow you to show that you are less risk and a safer driver so in term the insurance prices can reflect this rather than just national statistics. The box also has accident alert so if it picks up you may have been in an accident it alerts us and we will try to contact you to check your ok. If we think you may need help we can also call the emergency services. If your car is also stolen the box has theft tracking so we can track where the vehicle is. We don't want you to feel the box is there like big brother watching you, it is there to help keep you safe. Thanks, Vicky

Wise driving cancelled my first policy because I replied to them 1 day late, costing me over £500 for less than a month of insurance. They penalise you for driving after 11 but are cheap which is the only positive.

first of all they lost my ncd that i sent in which put up my insurance but once they recieved it i got a discount of nearly 40 pounds off of my insurance for being a good driver but then i realilized that it was my over payment that i got back and not a discount, also what is time and place mean on my telemetrics because it went down to zero, and trying to talk to someone from the black box insurers is not very easy, if my insurance donst come down by atleast 50% in the next 2 months with my driving record between 94 - 100 i will be changing to a different insurer that wont keep changing my monthly payments.

I have a box fitted yet my Acceleration score has been 0 since day one and has not moved whether I accelerate quickly or slowly, it makes no difference yet it effects my score, and has a negative impact.

Hidden fees, Bad communication. I've dealt with much better insurance companies so saving a few GBP isn't worth the hassle.

I follow the gear and acceleration advice on the dashboard for my car yet it’s appearing poor on your dial. Not a happy customer. I realise things can go up and down but at the rate suggested it is ridiculous.

Took over 3 attempts to get my no claims accepted regardless of previously being with an igo4 company. Nearly charged me £500 extra and made the whole process difficult. Two of the customer service people were useless and it wasn’t a good customer experience. Won’t be renewing.

To start I paid £214 as a lump sum assuming i had a month before i paid the next installment of £54 rough est. But was shocked to find within a few days my 1st installment was taken from my account. I then recieved my box and then within a month I was told my monthly installment was going up to £89 est due to NCB not being accepted and was told it was because my attachment I sent wasnt good enough proof of NCB. I then got a letter starting I wasnt covered due to my licence not being at correct address and my v5c was incorrect when actually your staff had wrong details on my documents as I didmt even recall who she said the car belonged to. In which I ensured i asked for the written proof and will be here before that date. In which the lady on the phone ensured me it wasnt being actioned until the month after anyway so no rush, to find out on my Direct debit date you took £89 anyway. Then this month I paid my Installment via phone as I had a bank error and the payment wasnt made on date due to £3 being missing to the balance. And then when I rang to pay the installment. I was told not only did I have to pay £77 for my Insurance but I had to pay £30 as a miss payment fee when I rang the day after it was due as I didnt realise it didnt go through until then. I paid it and on my account you have taken it in 3 different amounts. Also I get a letter that day saying I havent paid and I'm now due to pay more fees when ice already paid it.I feel like you just get money any way you can.

Once I renewed my car insurance I was unaware that you had to go and change the dates again of the direct debit, I thought as it was a renewal it would just be carried over. Obviously not as now I have arrears on my account... sneaky if you ask me!!
