Total rip-off! Cheapest on the comparison website, then they increase your premium once you have signed up. When you call to cancel they charge £50 for the privilege. Do not use them.

This company is a absolute joke, constantly trying to get more money out of you. Avoid Quoteline direct and close brothers at all costs. I would go as far to say this lot are a bunch of scammers..........

Very poor customer service. Missed one payment and 1 week later Close Brothers have cancelled the policy. Quote line blame close brothers and close brothers ignore all correspondence. I feel Quoteline should have more involvement as they are the people arranging and recommending Close Brothers. Between the two they couldn’t run a bath. Avoid at all costs!!!

I've had a bereavement recently, I took a person off my insurance, but they decided to leave the policy the same and carry on charging me the same .

Disgraceful company. I cancelled my home policy in October as I was moving, no problem all closed over the phone. Now I am getting emails from them to say I own £53 cancellation fee, even though no one mentioned this when I was closing my policy. Utter rip off merchants, avoid at all costs

Been with the company for four years, So I shopped around for a better quote, found one at a 3rd of the price now quote line won't send a copy of 4 years of claims discount. such a sad way to end a business account as this will be what a take from the company.

They took 130 pounds deposit. All was fine tell the cooling off period was over then I had a letter saying that they wanted 500 pounds, when I called them they questioned me about the use of my vehicle and said they don't need a payment anymore. 2 days later they said they would cancel my policy. Called up again and they said everything was fine then they sent an email stating all my payment dates have been changed so it would never be paid on time. Then they tried to charge 160 pounds half way through the month for no apparent reason only to be told that my account was in arrears because of this. Now I have cancelled the policy and they are charging me 265 for the joy of not being with them. Terrible company.

AVOID, £50 cancellation fee for a policy less than 24hours old!

I think you should get your renewal quote at least one month before ending, to give time for extra quotes.

It was cheap to start with but there was questions on the forms that I could not answer. Questions that they new the answers to. So they imposed penalties for not knowing the details, which doubled the cost of the insurance.

I took out insurance on my car with Quoteline Direct. Everything was well. I never missed a payment and was never late. I had no reason to call the as my driving throughout the year was good with no accidents mishaps or claims. I have cancer and I live in Pembrokeshire. I had an appointment at a Cancer Centre in Cardiff to start radiotherapy. When I called to get a quote to put my partner on my policy for one day to help with the driving, who has a clean license and 5 years No claims I was quoted over £100. I found alternative transport. Because of this when you came to renewal I decided to check out the Internet. I found a better offer that gave me more cover at less cost. I informed Quoteline detect I was not renewing and said I would consider them again. I was saved an email of confirmation. Then more emails saying I had not paid the renewal and threatening to cancel the policy I had not renewed. Then letters and email from Close Brothers ltd for missing instalments. I tried to call Quoteline and after waiting on hold for an hour the automated system ended the call twice. I emailed the attaching a copy of the email from them, showing the confirmation of me not renewing with them and asking them to sort it out and confirm this by email to as this will be effecting my credit. Up to now I have had no reply. Thank god I never needed to make a claim with Quoteline Direct, what a shambles. They have still not sorted this out and I don’t need this stress in my condition.

Having had my car insurance with this company for a year, they wrote to me three weeks before my renewal date to tell me that they would take the new premium (60%increase on last year) from my account up to 7 days before renewal date. I didn't recall giving them permission to automatically renew, but when I checked back it was hidden in the small print of my policy. Had it not been for Covid 19, I would have been away on holiday, not seen the letter until my return and the money could been debited from my account before I had the chance to do anything about it. Morally reprehensible, my advice would be not to use this company at all. These companies should be subjected to much tighter regulations.
