Terrible experience, tried to get a quote to change my car via telephone after over an hour on phone they said would call me back. Never got one, I then needed insurance ASAP so I could collect my car from garage. I ended up doing it via the master quote portal which the price seemed expensive, this prompted me to call them up in first place, agent said they could probably get it down cheaper. Fast forward to next day and dealer told me I needed to show 12 months insurance. I was forced to get insurance with another company. I’ve rang up master quote on 6th November to cancel the policy but the agent said they would need to work out how much refund I was due back and was promised a call back. Two weeks later and after several calls back they have still not cancelled my insurance. I managed to speak to a customer advisor on 19th November and said he could only cancel it from the 19th even though I requested cancellation on 6th November. Terrible customer service and attitude from the agent, who had the cheek to say I was obsessive. I suggest master quote revise the call log to see the facts! Master quote have even sent me a renewal for the insurance despite all my cancellation requests! Ombudsman here I come! Rebecca Collett policy holder FYI masterquote

1 star is 1 too many with regards to my experience with Masterquote. Due to my father passing away a few years ago I found myself with 2 vehicles. As I already had my own vehicle fully insured I decided to visit a comparison site to try and get an insurance quote for 3rd party only to cover my late father's, 25 year old Vauxhall Astra as I could not part with it. The quote from Masterquote seemed very reasonable so I decided to accept their quote. The deposit was £23.44 and 10 monthly payment of £11.14. All of the payments were made and the policy was due to expire in November 2020 with no payments outstanding. Unfortunately due to the age of the vehicle I made the very difficult decision to part with it a few days ago. I have just spoken to Masterquote to cancel the policy even though all of the payments have been made and they have charged me £76.80 which is more than 1/2 of the original quote. How they can justify this I will never know. I would certainly NOT recommend them and would advise anyone to AVOID.

The worst insurance company I have ever used in my life time. They deny everything! Please save yourself the nightmare and don't buy insurance from this company no matter how cheap they may be on any comparison website.

Appalling, send me absolutely no comms whatsoever after joining up. I hunted through their website trying to work out if I needed to send them my no claims proof and couldn't find out how to do it. Since they hadn't asked me to, I forgot all about it. The first comms I received for them was them cancelling my account because I was supposed to somehow figure it out from their awful website. The charged me a huge cancellation discount as well as "extra" charges which were unspecified. All in all they basically nicked my fee and didn't insure me. Absolute scum.

I had my car insured with masterquote and was paying 79 pounds a month I changed my address and they upped my monthly.premiums by over 300 extra a month no one can afford this amount so I decided to move back to my house and delay moving in with my girlfriend thinking this would bring my payments back down no they upped it again to over 400 a month

Bought a new car on Saturday, can't drive it until Monday or Tuesday.... because Masterquote finish at lunchtime on a Friday & don't open again until Monday! Ridiculous customer service....

Been trying to get intouch with them and close brothers..i have phoned and emailed which knowone has bothered to get back to me..since they took it upon themselves to renew my car insurance and just took £75 out of my account when i can insure my car for half that price at various other insurance companies. Then when i have eventually spoken to someone i am charged £50 cancellation fee as iv just missed out by 2 days..seriously do not use this insurance company!!!!

Just had to pay a £50 cancellation fee on a policy with 2 months remaining as I had sold my car. Would never use again, avoid!

what a joke of a company these are, i took an insurance policy out and they asked how many years since i passed my test.. it was 7 years and 11 months.. i passed on the 1st april 2011 but they said i put the 28th feb 2011. I did not put this, i just put that it had been 8 years since i passed as it was the closest to the options they gave me, either 7 years or 8 years. (it was only 30 days off 8 years) they email me asking me for my license pictures and then send an email saying my insurance has now gone up by £155 and a further £30 fee because the info i gave was wrong. i did nt put the 28th feb, they dad as this was the day i took out the policy. This is wrong and i am now in a position where if i cancel i will get charged the £70 fee or if i stay i will get charged a further £155. Avoid these scam artists, they need locking up and if im ever in Gibraltar ill happily wait outside their offices and confront these scum bags in person.

Got renewed quote 20 increase rang and took off 40 pounds happy with the too full quote from my account said cannot give me 40 back have cancelled first lady said 3 to 5 working days 2nd lady said 28 days to get my money refunded now I have to pay more money out for more insurance appalling do not go with these people rip off

Absoloute nightmare, they just keeping uping the cost of home insurance each year, I called to say i cant get into the portal to cancel (believe me I tried & went round in circles) & ive taken insurance everywhere. Apparently it's my own fault that ive not reported the portal before now... Like previous reviewers I've also been threatened with debt collectors if i dont pay my cancellation fee. As i didnt sign & email back my signature for the policy to continue for yet another year i don't think im in the wrong or am I?

Had 3 months left on ins for clio, and tooks a chrisler ypsilon off their system after 2 days, i had to pay £115 f.... fees to close both policies. Guy on the phone did give a s..t and was abrupt. STAY AWAY UTTER DAY-LIGHT ROBERRY..

Worse Insurance Brokers I have ever dealt with in my 63 years. Just been threatened with sending a debt collection agency in for the payment of £75 for the cancellation of my Contents Insurance policy which only cost £63.51 in the first place and had less than 6 months to run. All the correspondence had been sent to my previous address for which I cancelled the policy. There was less than 21 days between my cancellation request and their aggressive letter threatening the debt collection agency action.
