Mean company charge young people £40 cancellation fee when they pass their test! It's inevitable that the policy will be cancelled on passing this is just a way of squeezing more money out of young people who already have to pay extortionate insurance prices on passing.

Would not recommend. Attractive price at first, but then they rip you off. Acting like scamm. Stay well away.

I recently had a deeply unsatisfactory experience with Collingwoods Learner Driver Insurance Broker, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment regarding their exorbitant cancellation fees and unprofessional customer service. As a UK-based company, I had expected a higher standard of service and respect for customer needs, but unfortunately, my encounter with Collingwoods fell far below my expectations. After my son held a learner driver policy for just four months, he successfully passed his driving test, which, according to their policy terms, triggered a mandatory cancellation of the policy. As he initiated the cancellation process, we were shocked by the excessive fees demanded by Collingwoods for this seemingly routine procedure. Moreover, the most frustrating aspect of this ordeal was the encounter with a customer service representative named Michael. His obstructive and rude behavior left a lasting negative impression on us. When I requested his full name for future reference and escalation purposes, he unreasonably refused to provide it. Furthermore, he interrupted me while I was speaking, displaying a complete lack of respect for my concerns and inquiries. When I asked to speak with a manager to address my dissatisfaction, he flat-out denied my request and dismissed my concerns without offering any resolution. To make matters worse, during our conversation, Michael insisted on unnecessarily requesting MY personal sensitive data, which raised serious privacy concerns. There was no valid reason for him to insist on such information, especially when it had no relevance to the inquiry or the cancellation process. This breach of trust and disregard for customer privacy is simply unacceptable. Collingwoods Learner Driver Insurance Broker needs to address these significant issues urgently. First and foremost, their cancellation fees must be reevaluated to ensure they align with industry standards and do not burden customers with disproportionate charges. Secondly, the company must focus on providing professional and respectful customer service. Rude and obstructive behavior, such as that exhibited by Michael, tarnishes the reputation of the company and leaves customers feeling undervalued and disrespected. I strongly encourage Collingwoods Learner Driver Insurance Broker to take immediate action to rectify these issues. Customers should never be subjected to unprofessional behavior or unnecessary requests for personal information. Furthermore, a prompt and genuine apology, along with a commitment to improving their cancellation process and customer service, is warranted. Regrettably, based on our experience, we cannot recommend Collingwoods Learner Driver Insurance Broker to others seeking learner driver insurance. Prospective policyholders should be aware of the potential for excessive cancellation fees and disrespectful customer service when dealing with this company.

Avoid. Lots of hidden costs, and deceitful information. So at first you will see there is a £40 cancellation, fair play. Then and only when you take the insurance out do they tell you about a broker fee £70, and that the policy also has a taper fee system for cancellation. The £70 is because they are a ‘broker’ but look who your insurance is with…it’s Collingwood. It’s a scam. Oh and the cooling off period…doesn’t exist as the £70 is non refundable - come on trading standards sort these rip off merchants out - targeting younger people. Now wound they pay out….what do you think!!!!

Took out learner driver insurance from my son. I spoke to Luke, who explained everything to me, including the cancellation charge I can’t understand why people don’t think that they have would have to pay an admin charge as with any insurance this fee is charged 🤷‍♀️ I paid £146 for 20 week insurance package which is brilliant. Luke made it very easy to sort out. I obviously had a completely different experience to other people and would recommend his company to any parent looking for insurance for their children. from the reviews I would say the keynote is do not take out insurance for one year take it out only fair as long as you need it and then keep buying packages on top if I don’t pass the test.

This Company takes advantage of young people and their parents - their automatic license detection conveniently (for them) waits until the end of the policy before auto cancelling even though my son passed his test 5 months beforehand. Then they have the nerve to charge a cancellation fee and hounded my Son to pay - threatening legal action and poor credit rating. Avoid!!

Cancelling my sons policy after passing test six months left on it find out that my son wouldn’t be entitled to any money back because of cancellation fees. Rip-off. It’s expensive enough for the young ones to get on the road. I would recommend anyone else looking for learning insurance to look elsewhere.

My daughter paid upfront for 1 year's insurance. After passing her test 11 months into the policy she cancelled the insurance only to be hit with a £40 cancellation fee. This is a hidden charge as it's not clear on their website when purchasing the policy. Avoid this company! Will be escalating the issue with the financial ombudsman.

This company say they have pay as you go learner insurance, then smack you with cancellation fees and annual policy fees. They get bad reviews taken off trustpiolet and fake good reviews put on. They try to get under 18's to get into a credit agreement which is against the law. Avoid this company. Use other insurance brokers who don't rip you off.

Beware of Collingwood learner driver insurance. They charge a £40 'cancellation fee' when you pass your test. As the point of a learner driver is to learn how to drive and then pass your test, you cannot avoid this charge. This cancellation fee is apparently buried in their terms of business document and is not highlighted on their website when you buy the product. In process of making a compliant and will be off to the financial ombudsman to call this type of scam out.

As many other reviews -hidden cancellation fees on learner driver policy -£40 to cancel in month 10 of the policy. Lodged a complaint and will write to financial ombudsman. Surely they are losing all future customers as we will never use them again.

Disgraceful way to treat young drivers with the hidden small print to catch them out with cancellation fees when they pass their test. At a time when people have little money it’s typical to see an insurance company set out to rip people off. My daughter passed her test and forgot to cancel policy on the car she learned on. She wasn’t using the policy after he pass date and the policy ran its course of the full year. Even with that the company charged her £40 to cancel a policy that had run its full year and ended. Hidden tax in an impossible to understand small print. Shame on you Collingwood.
