The course was very informative, I learned a lot about FOI in the two weeks. Joyce was fab - very knowledgeable and made the course interesting and enjoyable. I was glad the course was online as it made it more accessible for me. I would have personally preferred to do the course in 1 week full days but this is just a personal preference. Overall I can't fault anything!

Julie was a great trainer with excellent knowledge of the subject with practical experience. Ian ran the exam prep day, which I would thoroughly recommend if you are planning on taking an exam any time soon as his tips were very helpful in passing. Freevacy was extremely organised and timely in getting course content to me and arranging course sessions. Even when the exam content changed the week before starting the course they could not have been more helpful. Would thoroughly recommend Freevacy.

Completed the CIPM course and found it to be incredibly useful. The content was clear and delivered well by the tutor, Julie. Julie was great as she made the content meaningful to my role. I needed a course that would help me with the practicalities of my role and this delivered that well.

I had a great experience learning with the help of Freevacy about Data Protection! It was a very good use of my time: I enjoyed the trainer and the training! I was also able to pass the certification exam right after the training! The most important thing for me, being passionate about Data Protection and Privacy by design, was to learn more about the current regulations and how they can be applied in my day-to-day job and my personal life. Thank you Freevacy!

Firstly, Amber was excellent. Really knowledgeable and friendly, good at breaking things down and explaining things and I have absolutely no complaints with her delivery. What I was not a fan of, is the training format or course content. Usually in online training courses, you are put into breakout rooms or spaces and asked to discuss ideas or given case studies to analyse together etc. then invited back to discuss as a group. As someone who really struggles to retain information delivered in a lecture format, I found it quite hard to follow, particularly as the nature of the course is centered around the dissection of legislation and legal text, which is very 'wordy'. We did have multiple choice questions to complete individually at the end of each day but this doesn't encourage free thinking as the correct answer will always be written in front of you as a prompt. Similarly, it doesn't create any real opportunity for discussion or application of learning.

The instruction was most valuable for getting ready for exams. The instructor appears to be quite informed about the subjects. Instead of CIPPs, I opted for live online CIPT training in my case. I anticipated that I might get technical expertise in how to put in place privacy protections and practical experience. However, rather than focusing on hands-on activities and the kinds of technical controls employed in the current industry, the CIPT training was presented as lectures where the instructor read from slides. I did not anticipate the context debate to be as long as it was and sometimes, it is too cool to be focused on. I sincerely hope that Freevacy/IAPP will focus more of the CIPT training on practical applications and hands-on skills as opposed to lecturing and reading from slides, which may be the proper method of instruction in CIPP/E/US etc. But generally speaking, it was useful though from the exam prep. Thanks.

The booking process and logistics were easy and hassle-free. Comprehensive course material (both in documentary form and onscreen). The presenter (Tony) was excellent and engaging throughout and the use of genuine examples assisted to provide context to some real-life cases. Recommended. Thank you. MP.

I completed the FOI Practitioner course in 2014 with Joyce Allen. It was a fantastic course and I was able to apply my learning to real life requests confidently. I completed the foundation certificate in Information security Management Principles with Anthony Daly in 2022 and I found it interesting, especially all the examples Anthony provided during the course. I returned to complete the Data Protection foundation course with Joyce in January 2022 and I found it useful to apply to my current job so I decided to return to complete the Data Protection Practitioner course this year with Julie Dennis. This was a fantastic course, full of real-life examples which made the sometimes 'boring' world of data protection much more interesting! A great training provider overall and I would highly recommend to anyone working within information management!!

The content of the course was relevant and interesting to my role, and 5 years into a career in Data Protection I still felt that I learned new things. Julie made sure to involve us all, and had lots of real world examples to give context to the course. I found doing a few sample questions at the end of the sessions helpful. I had a great two weeks and am actually looking forward to getting stuck back into the revision element before taking the exam :)

Really helpful course, aimed at the whole FOI rather than industry-specific which was great as an overview of the FOI Act. I struggle with online courses but this was a mixture of talking example questions and a chance for people to discuss answers and give real life examples.

I have just attended the CISMP course run by Tony. Tony had many interesting stories and case studies that were relevant to information security issues. To someone experienced in information security, this would be really helpful. I did however find that the number of stories was very distracting in conjunction with the course/chapter content. Because I am relatively new to information security, I struggled to understand what information formed part of the course. Many times throughout the course we would spend large chunks of time on a case study, but by the end, he would say we would not need to know this for the exam. As it is a foundation exam, I am at this stage just looking to understand the basics and obtain a good mark in the exam. Unlike the FOI and DP course, we did not do any sample questions, instead we did group exercises. I always found the sample questions extremely helpful in understanding what type of questions would come up in the exam. Equally, Tony mentioned we do not have a mock exam day. We have been given 25 sample questions at the back of the book, but we did not run through these, nor any other sample questions. I think this also does not help you to understand what you might be asked on the course. Lastly, the manual/booklet that we were supplied did not correlate to Tony's slides. Tony had 180+ slides, whereas the manual has 118. He did provide us with an electronic copy of the manual with the total slides, but I much prefer to write & make notes on a page when revising. Thank you to Tony for his time.

Hi Eleanor, Thank you for your comments regarding the CiSMP course. All feedback is valuable, and your comments have been noted. As educators, we aim to help our delegates develop lifelong skills while preparing them to sit and pass an exam. With this in mind, we encourage our trainers to deviate from the course content to impart a broader understanding of the topic, sometimes thinking beyond the exam to consider how to apply what is being discussed in a learning environment practically. That said, it's imperative to strike the right balance. We regularly work on this and will consider your feedback to assess whether we got this right. Regarding an exam preparation day and mock exam, the CiSMP is a Foundation-level course, which, when delivered in its traditional classroom format, involved taking the exam on the last day of the course. However, since the move to online training, the course is run over five mornings, with the majority of delegates generally taking the exam the following week. Therefore, there is not an allowance for a separate exam prep or mock exam day as there is with Practitioner courses. Like the Practitioner level courses, we offer additional 1-2-1 coaching and support to delegates to help them prepare for the CiSMP exam. We would like to extend this offer to you, so please let us know how we can help.
