Around four years ago I was webmaster for a local sporting club, current costs were rising and I was looking to reduce costs, but maintain service. A friend recommended Freethought. Getting set up was not too much of a hassle, any queries on procedure were answered promptly and clearly. My next approach was for an individual domain to use for email, so that switching ISP's did not involve visiting numerous sites to update communication preferences. Straightforward process again. Since then there have been occasional problems, usually caused when I have changed ISP! Their ticket system works superbly, and I have found their response times to be excellent. I am an "experienced hobbyist" but no technical guru. Their approach to me has been friendly and their explanations straightforward and clear. Costs in this field are a swings and roundabouts system, I have found that looking at the total cost involved Freethought would take a lot of beating. There is a scale attached to this review asking How likely is it I would recommend - no question - I have already.

I cannot praise Freethought support services highly enough. I know very little about setting up and managing a website and they have talked me through a number of problems very promptly and always on the same day. A truly excellent service.

There's no such thing as low priority, we know it's often the little requests that can derail an entire project waiting for that little piece of information or support. So glad you're enjoying the service!
Genuinely surprised at the customer service and technical support from FreeThought - With other hosting providers, I usually have to wait a day or so for a response, and typically trying to close-down my support ticket at the earliest opportunity. FreeThought seem to actually care about the problem at hand and have replied in MINUTES. Keep up the good work!

Having always worked for a company with it's own internal 'IT' support (for domain names / email addresses / web site creations etc), then I found it a daunting prospect to work alone and try to understand and set up all of these things for myself. I am a novice! Freethought Internet were recommended to me and the whole experience has been seamless. Very helpful, over the phone and by email response (which was answered within 5 minutes) taking me through things step by step. Rapid response to any questions, so supportive, very professional and inexpensive. The servers they use are sending and receiving mail more quickly than I have ever experienced. If you are looking for support I totally recommend them. If you are Lincoln based.....this is the ONLY place you should go!

We originally found Freethought when looking for an ethical hosting service online. The more we looked into it, the more it seemed that Freethought was really putting their ecological and social responsibility to the forefront, something integral to our business and the supply chains we use. One we realized that they were also a domain registrar, we signed up immediately. Throughout the process of selecting a package, migrating our site, and making the changes we needed in the first few days after the move, the staff at Freethought have been exceedingly helpful. They are prompt in responding to emails, and the person you talk to via chat actually has the knowledge and authority to make changes on your account while you chat with them, a definite treat compared to some of the larger companies where support is clearly an entry-level office worker with a script. It meant I was able to get clear answers about technical issues and also get resolutions to those issues in real time with very little delay. All in all, we're extremely happy we made the switch to Freethought and will definitely recommend them to any organizations or people we know looking for good service and to ensure that they're supporting ethical businesses.

If you're looking for managed hosting in the UK for your personal websites or small business, this is the provider you want. No fancy marketing gimmicks or any of the other typical industry tricks; just reliable service with fast and friendly support. The people behind Freethought clearly know what they're doing which unfortunately often isn't the case with other hosting providers. Freethought are excellent, I would 100% recommend them.

I knew very little about Freethought before I signed up but compared to BT who I had hosting with before they’ve been amazing. I’m not thick, but some of the things involved are a bit confusing. Freethought got me set up very quickly and then just recently I had to ask a question and I was surprised with the speed of the response. Then I had to ask another question and I got a response at ten PM on a Saturday night. Not part of the service but Kieran was at home and answered straight away! I’m very pleased with the service.
