We are an exciting innovative independent wine merchant established in St Albans in 2004 by Julia Jenkins offering excellent wines and service with outstanding wine knowledge and enthusiasm. The company has a strong loyal local following that extends out into Hertfordshire and beyond.

Our superb wine range is a constantly evolving and changing list in which all the wines are carefully selected ensuring that the range of over 600 wines are distinctive and delicious, well made, and expressive of the region of origin. They also offer value for money. Many of the wines are from small wineries producing unusual wines that are not available in the High Street.

“Has a fantastic time at the recent wine tasting at The Fleetville Larder. Wine and cheese and charcuterie were all spot on. Julia is a knowledgeable and humble host.”

“Ordered a case of 2019 wine (recommended in Decanter) from the website and payment was taken. I then did not hear anything for a week, even after i sent an email asking for delivery date. Finally received order but it was 2020 NOT 2019. I then emailed asking for tasting notes compared to the 2019. No response. Tried another email and still no response. Very poor service.”

“I made an order online and after a few days received an email saying order completed. When I went to collect my order from the shop (as I had selected when ordering), I was informed that the "order completed" email didn't actually mean the order was completed and ready to collect. Indeed, only 3 of the 7 bottles I had ordered were in stock. Furthermore, I was told that the prices I had paid for the remaining 4 bottles were likely to increase when Flagship sourced them from the wine merchants. In my experience, when you order an item online, and the money leaves your account, you expect the goods to be delivered for the price quoted / you have paid, not being sprung with an additional charge because the business hasn't actually got the items in stock, but have taken the money anyway. I would also suggest that the female owner/staff member could do with undertaking some training in professional communication with customers - I have never encountered such a rude and frankly patronising manner from anyone in a shop. It is not my fault that you don't have the items in stock, nor is it my fault that your system sent out in error, an automated email that the order was complete. I try to support smaller businesses rather than large chains / franchises, however, I certainly won't be using Flagship again - and had there been an option for 0 stars, then that is what they would have received.”

“I’m from NZ has been searching for a good online store that stocked quality NZ wines to deliver to my brother in London. Flagship wines were excellent during their dealings with my brother and myself during the process. Highly recommend them.”

“Excellent customer service. Will contacted me promptly as my order could not be completed as you had insufficient stock and I selected a substitute. From then the order was delivered extremely promptly, well packed and delivered in good order.”

“We went to a special restaurant for lunch. There was a particularly good German wine there. A search revealed that Flagship Wine sold it. I bought two bottles, and received them in a few days. An excellent service which I will use again”

“I ordered n paid for 3 bottles of Port of which there was only 1 in stock. Due to their limited opening hours (not unusual for specialist retailers) it was 72hrs before I was contacted Once we sorted what to do my bottle was on its way to me closely followed by a refund Excellent service, so please do not berate this company if you feel that no reply after 10mins upsets your order Definitely would use again”

“I had a case of wine delivered to me for Christmas. I asked Flagship to select the wines. I wasn’t disappointed. All the wines were very good and added to our Christmas meals splendidly.”

“The online ordering service was fine but I (the customer) was given no idea of how the delivery would be made or when. I made the order on 1 December. When it had not arrived I had to telephone for an update and was told it had been dispatched by Royal Mail - who are on strike. As at 11 December I have received nothing and only had an update because I telephoned for it. In the meantime many other orders made online at about the same time have arrived. So not overly impressed.”

Hi Chantelle The Rasteau Domaine de Beaurenard VDN is an amazing dessert wine isn't it - raisiny with cherries etc! Have you tried it with chocolate yet.... Glad you like it..... Julia
