“Oh dear - wish I’d read some earlier reviews. Their prices are high but I figured it’s important to support a family business that promotes sustainability. I ordered based on an offer - spend more than £150 and you get a free Salmon en Croute….so I went all out and did. Turned out buried at the bottom of a long list of offers, that Iwasnt interested in there was a clause in small writing - order by x date to get this offer. I’m a first time customer and didn’t spot it…..you would need to know this was a possible clause and go searching out for it. So I contacted Customer Service and got a transactional ‘sorry that you missed it’. Honestly I-feel duped. Zero effort to try and help from their Customer Services lady - what a contrast to the warm, cheery welcome letter post first purchase. Won’t buy anything more from them, which is their loss, as I was likely to be a regular. I have no faith they will change the layout of their offer emails - it stacks the odds in their favour. Be very careful before you choose to buy from them and search the small print before clicking that payment option.”

“I looked at the prices on the fish for thought website and was truly shocked, higher than comparable companies who deliver fresh and frozen seafood. Much higher than the price of my local Seafood Shack for fresh seafood and up and up to three or four the price of frozen fish fillets such as hake, cod and haddock that I have purchased from Farmfoods, Aldi and Morrisons. None the less, I love fish and seafood, so placed an order as they claim the fish sold is caught by local Cornish fisherman in local waters. My order was for a cooked lobster, bouillabaisse kit for 2 and a monkfish curry kit for 2. This came to a hefty £71 after a 10% discount. However, as my order was over £65, this came with a free mackerel and romesco sauce to soften the blow. I placed the order only to receive an email straightaway indicating the bouillabaisse was out of stock and my order now, after the 10% discount was for £56.52. I rang Fish For Thought, only to speak to an unhelpful and uninterested woman who just confirmed that there was nothing she could do and as my order was below £65 I would not get the free mackerel. I cancelled the order immediately, but apparently my refund would likely take 7 days. On the Fish For Thought website it is claimed: 'At Fish for Thought we pride ourselves on going the extra mile and doing our best every day, for all of our customers. I am proud of our hard working and dedicated team, all of who care passionately about what we do. Having said that, we are not perfect, and occasionally things do go wrong. What I guarantee, is that when they do go wrong, we will do whatever it takes to make it up to you.' I was disgusted by the attitude of the uninterested woman whom I spoke to at Fish For Thought, which was in stark contradiction to the claim made above. 'We will do whatever it takes to make it up to you' is one of the most empty promises I have ever seen. I am unlikely to order again from Fish For Thought, the customer services is unhelpful at best, and the prices of their fish is higher that the many other alternatives. If I could have awarded one star I would have. I also note on their website, that they are selling Padstow Brewing Co beer 'Lobster Kveik' (4 x 440ml) for £22. This mark up gives an indication of the premium prices that Fish For Thought charge.”

“Amazing! Excellent service from ordering to delivery, and restaurant quality food! We ordered Oysters mignonette, Oysters Rockefeller, lobster Thermidor with sides, chocolate fondant and a bottle of Camel Valley! All enjoyed in the comfort of our own home (next best thing to being in Cornwall!) Highly recommend and the perfect Valentines treat!”

“Excellent from start to finish. This is the first time I have ordered anything fresh to be delivered so I was rather anxious. But the whole process from ordering to delivery was excellent. I ordered lobster, crab and oysters, for a special occasion. The food was all fresh, packed well and tasted wonderful. I will be ordering again”

“Rather a disappointing experience. We ordered three items 2 Plaice. One was huge and the other small to medium. So unsuitable for a meal for two. 1kg of prawns. These were miserable creatures, not at all like the shell on Atlantic prawns we were expecting. In addition they were pretty tasteless- more like cotton wool. The two cod portions we ordered were very small and the fish supper we were expecting turned in to a fish snack. This order was pretty pricey, and we were expecting greater things. RH”

“We've had some recent problems with a few of our orders. We just opened a package of Dover sole and was instantly hit with a very strong, unpleasant smell. The package was also clearly marked for two but there were only three peices rather than the usual four. That was the second time we got three instead of four filets. It's a bit pricey to throw away but it does not smell fresh. We have reached out but didn't really feel like they believed us or that they really cared. Don't mind paying for quality but not when it is unpredictable.”

“We're so glad we found Fish4Thought During Lockdown, we needed to access as much home-delivered food as possible - and somehow, thank goodness, we discovered Fish4Thought. And oh how glad we are! We used to live in Dorset, 2 miles from the sea and so were used to fresh fish and small fishmongers. And then we moved to Oxfordshire, very landlocked! - and had to resort to buying supermarket fish. We were so dispirited by the lack of freshness and flavour, we almost gave up on fish. But since starting to buy from Fish4Thought, we've become passionate fish-eaters again. The taste of all the fish we've tried is as though brought straight out of the sea that morning, the portions are incredibly generous and the sustainability ethos is one we whoelhearftedly support. Add to this the charm of the service, the rapidity of delivery and the brilliant specials like the delicious Asian Crab Cakes and their Watercress Sauce, and Fish4Thought is a total winner. Even when Lockdown ends, they will still be our fish suppliers - we're so very glad we found them”

“If I could give Fish for Thought 10 out of 5 I would! Wow! Delivered my 2x kilo lobsters cooked and cleaned and split on the morning of my wife’s birthday and they were delicious! For 4 people apparently, but we killed both and the lobster Mac n Cheese to ourselves! Wonderful and ethical and reliable! Thank you abs would definitely use again! p.s. the Cornish lobster is as sweet as as Canadian! Absolutely fantastic!”

“This is the best fish we have ever tasted - so fresh, delivered when they said they would and in eco packaging. We love the Hake and the salmon but by adding their Bois Boudran sauce to the salmon the dish was turned into an amazingly special mean. We are absolute fans and cannot recommend their products highly enough.”

“We ordered two lobsters they arrived on the day The Lobster was delicious outstanding quality PRE cooked and split We ordered two Asian Crab Cakes what a shock absolutely disgusting made me feel sick what terrible mix even by Asian taste both Crab cakes hit the dust bin immediately we even emptied the bin right away even the smell was bad It’s a shame we loved the Lobster”

“Brilliant service. Eco friendly packing, superb fresh produce. Muscles and prawns delicious. Probably the best mackerel I’ve ever eaten .Amazing plaice , sea bass and bream. Very good value. Wonderful treat in this dark times.”

“Sorry to say against all of these quality reviews that my experience is one of disappointment.My orders were for made up dishes Cullen Skink and a lobster and macaroni dish.The former had no taste of fish stock or smoked haddock and only a small discernible number of fish pieces.Just a lot of potato.The latter a lot of macaroni and sauce, but without the trademark flavour of lobster. For the prices not good value.”

“As avid lovers of Crustacea and shellfish, we tend to know a good plate of seafood. Well, what can I say. Sceptical at least but thoroughly enthused by the bulky package that arrived and well, what a wonderful surprise. Oysters, they were delicious ( local I believe ) and prime lobster and crab.....amazing.. what is really interesting is the sauces that accompany the package. These really compliment the food. To be honest, we had a meal out last week and it cost £110.00. Our bill with FFT was £97.00 which included delivery to Scotland and, well it’s a no brainier for us, FFT can certainly provide an entertaining evening with their range of food. For anyone that is doubtful, I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed. Go on, give it a try and if you’re brave enough, try the fresh oysters... wonderful... oh, learn to shuck first. Good luck. Placing another order soon..😀👍”

“We recently received the luxury lobster and shellfish box and it was simply perfect. The fish was so fresh and so very tasty plus each different type of shellfish, including the lobster, came with a different sauce which enhanced them even further. We also had a packet of lobster bisque soup in the box, divine flavour and consistency. I know what we’ll be serving up on Christmas Day in my house! Thanks so much Fish for Thought, you are brilliant!”

“I ordered lobsters, crabs and scallops from Fish for Thought recently. Everything was excellent. I particularly loved the scallops because they are my favourite shell fish, and my 13-year old half-Italian grand-daughter, who had never had scallops before and was keen to give them a try said that she could taste the sea. I can think of no higher praise. Thank you Fish for Thought. I shall definitely be calling on your services again.”
