The hen house seems of reasonable quality for the price but the instructions are printed so faintly they are barely readable and appear to be pretty scant. I have not attempted to navigate them yet!

Cocoon 5000 chicken house: Initially 2 units were delivered when we ordered one but the courier took the second one away so this presented no problem for us. There are a few design problems which we had to overcome as we assembled the kit. The perches are designed to fit just a few cm above the floor level - this is clearly a mistake: we moved them to a more sensible position in the eaves and screwed them into place, which also strengthens the top of the house as the perches double up as braces. The catches on the drop-down doors are very flimsy and there is only one, where 2 are needed: we improvised a rabbit-hutch style catch from a spare piece of wood and a screw. It would be better if one at least was a conventional pop-hole that could be connected to an automatic opener/closer. The drop-down doors are also rather flimsy, The 2 section roof, which opens for cleaning, looked likely to blow open in a strong wind so we added a catch to stop this happening. The floor of the nest boxes havevery little support - so far we have left these but it looks like some additional support/bracing will be needed as they look very weak and could easily break. So, although it is mostly well made and designed, a few errors and some slightly under-speced components really need improving. The branding is also bizarre: cocoon with the initial c and o minimised is hardly pc!

Dear Robert, the product was shipped April 1st via APC and is out for delivery. Consignment number is 5718134. Our customer service could have helped you last week with this information. regards Eggshell

Well enough designed coop for two chooks max . Wood a bit flimsier than is hoped but, hopefully with a coat of wood preservative, it might last a while. Not sure how it will hold up moving around, which is why I bought the one with wheels, time will tell. Speedy delivery , although it came over two separate days.

Paid extra to have the 1-2 day delivery which was when it was received. However, I was waiting for an email or phone call to acknowledge delivery day/time slot (as not delivered to home address) and didn't receive anything, therefore the first delivery was made when no one there to receive it. Easily rearranged though. If notice was received it would have been a rating of very good.

I have posted a review on each of the product pages for the three items I bought from Eggshell: the portable Betty house, the 2m extension run and the automatic door opener. None of these reviews are showing. Their pages still say "Be the first to review this product". Where have my reviews gone?!!

Ordered product easily and did receive phone call to check delivery day which was good, however the item was not delivered on the agreed day! It was delivered a day late. The assembly of the chicken coup was easy enough apart from it was missing a set of screws that were required. Muddled through finding screws we already had at home. Our chickens do enjoy their new run and had both laid eggs within 20 minutes of moving in! Overall product is OK for the price.

I bought the Betty house - Delivery was fast and the product is generally of a good quality. Quality control on the other hand is obviously poor as the end roof panel on the right side was split by the manufacturer either over tightening, or using too big a screw without a pilot hole. As it was easily fixed with a new screw and a bit of filler, I haven't complained - was quicker and easier to just fix it! The house itself works pretty well. Ventilation is decent and the sliding tray works well. Instructions were absolutely awful so be prepared for a bit of head scratching. Make sure to remember and fit the handles before the roof goes on!!! The only flaws I would say this has are firstly and most importantly, the roost bars are lower than the nesting boxes. This obviously results in a bird or two using nests to sleep in, which isnt very good. I plan to raise the bars myself, but really this is a basic thing that anyone who designs chicken houses should be aware of. Other than that big issue, the only other things Id say is that the ramp doesn't stay in place very well at all (Ive used a brick to secure it for now) and the sliding door is quite tightly fitted into the runners. This may be an issue using an auto door opener when its freezing overnight, or the wood expands in the rain. Time will tell. Overall, Im pretty happy with the house for the price. Its not perfect, but similar houses from elsewhere are far more expensive.

the actual coop is very well made, however the one area that could be improved is the sliding door channel......it gets topped up with shavings so you cannot shut it,apart from that, well built..........other areas that need addressing are,the walkway into the coop,it drags on the floor as you move it,when you lower the coop/run down it sticks in the ground......longevity is going to be an iss ue without some form of modification to stop this happening.......the run is quite well built,we opted for the extension run as we have five chooks.......the run is listed as 3-5.......but that in our opinion is to little room, unfortunately the extension to the run is not made of "foxproof" wire thereby negating completely the rest of the run...........saying that....if these problems were addressed.....it would be excellent value for money and personally i'd give it five stars if that happened

Although the product is of good quality and easy to assemble I feel so let down by the service. I paid for the express delivery in two days and only part of the delivery arrived on time. I then went through the hassle of phone calls and broken promises of delivery times that came and went not getting the goods. They finally arrived two days late left out in the rain with no apology or explanation given. I would like my delivery cost refunded or I may not use eggshell again for future purchases. I got my coop yesterday and assembled it today. The quality of the house looks good. Wood seems to be solid and I liked the plastic caps for the pillars which will ensure they will not rot over time. I already recommended it to others as well on Facebook. So why only 3 out 5 you are asking? For the following reasons (and in no particular order): 1. Arranging the delivery wasn't a pleasant interaction. Bear in mind it was the first time I spoke to them after I placed the order online. I asked that the driver calls me half an hour before arriving as the only times I got are 9 to 5. Surely anyone would understand that working people are not going to take a day off just to wait for this delivery. The company's rep said this is not possible. LO and behold the driver did call me when no one answer the door. So surely he could have easily called when he was on his way. 2. Six screws of type C were missing so I had to go and buy some more. 3. The instructions are extremely minimal. Nice that they were able to fit them on one side of an A4 paper but more explanations would have saved us time. 4. I bought a coop with wheels but the instructions for the coop itself did not mention anything about the wheels. Only after I built the coop and opened the box for the wheels did I notice that the wheels need to be assembled before the coop is. At this stage I wasn't planning to undo what I have done already. This was a very annoying moment. 5. I also bought an engine to automate the door opening. Again, the instructions for the coop don't mention this option at all. The box for the engine has its own generic instructions but not specific to the coop I bought. Also the engine comes without screws which is really daft and extra annoying given that special ones are required (those with very small head). 6. Not sure why the coop was designed in this way but in order to pull the tray where the birds do their business on, one has to move the steps. Not a big issue but I thought that if the designed allowed from the side, it would have been smarter. Had I known all of the above I would still have bought from them but I think they can do better on user experience.

The coop arrived within 2 days and was well packaged. The construction took twice as long as predicted on the phone, (45 mins), two accessory packages were unlabelled and the instructions were not entirely clear. The 4 rescue hens seem happy and are already laying, but the space would be far too cramped for "5-8" as advertised. The roof of the coop needs a proper catch, as the foxes here would be quite capable of opening it.

The chicken coup is good value for money. The instructions were a bit difficult to follow at times. The quality of the product is good although the handle split when attaching it to the run. The screws keep on coming out when opening the lid, so we replaced them with bigger ones than the ones supplied. The lid could also do with a locking system. Overall though we are pleased with the product. It is easy to clean and move about. Even though we did purchase the extension, we are going to attach a bigger run for our hens as they are used to more roaming space.

The instructions for assembling the chicken house and run could be clearer but it goes together well. Unfortunately it does leak during heavy rain. I only have two chickens living in it and in my opinion there is definitely not room for any more.
