“Plants severely delayed but no communication from Crocus. Having chased , they sent only part of my shipment and I’m still waiting the other half almost 3 weeks since purchase! Offered a 20% refund. Very poor and will not use again.”

“If it was possible I would give a zero star rating. This was my first time ordering from Crocus and I thought that they had a good reputation. My order was small but expensive - just two high dome propagators, can't go far wrong with those, and two ferns - a Dyopteris Affinis which is small but not in bad order and hopefully will grow on, also an Athyrium niponicum var.pictum 'Ursula Red', this has arrived almost dead, will need a lot of nurturing. No delivery note/invoice. On the whole disappointed AB”

“Ordered plants 5th June that were due to delivery within 7-9 days. Reached out 15th as website said still being processed at day 10. Item did arrive on 16th, wrong item and dead. I received an email to say I would be getting a refund but no apology. I wouldn't recommend there are better companies out there! Gardeners Dream being one.”

“Today I recieved my order and I'm absolutely shocked at the poor quality of plants sent. I ordered plants worth £190 (149 after discount) but am absolutely shocked at the poor quality of the plants. What a scam. The hydrangeas that I ordered were worth £17.99 each and they're strikingly different from what's advertised. Also, the lavender plants were worth £5.99 for a 9 cm pot but they look so weak and small. I found way better lavenders at B & Q! Plus, my acer tree hasn't even arrived and I dread at what it'll look like. This nursery is a complete rip off. Please do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. Just the most disappointed first time buyer.”

“Just received (several days late) an order for plants that cost over £260 - very disappointed. Maybe I was naive to expect plants that would look good straight away, but what I got was just a selection of tiny little plants, that will get lost in the garden. I tried Crocus because they seemed to have such a big selection, but I could have bought far better at the local garden centre and I wish I had.”

“I often use Crocus because they offer such a wide range of plants. However I am always disappointed by the quality of the plants which are also very expensive for their size. I recently chased up a late order (no email dispatch confirmation) and found that the plants had been left outside my door, without a box or paperwork and no note had been put through the door either. They had been there for two days and I didn’t know there were there! The lady at customer service was helpful though. I’ve been a crocus customer for a number of years but I think I am going to have to take my business elsewhere now. The truth is that garden centres and other specialist nurseries offer much better plants for much cheaper prices and I should support them. Crocus owners/ directors - it you’re reading this then it’s time to pull your finger out. You have the opportunity to offer an excellent service and at the prices you charge you should be doing that! Please just try and act like you care about your customers and take these reviews on board!”

“Wish i googled reviews first. I received poor quality gladioli bulbs, doubt anything will grow. Also some of the lily of the valley i ordered were absolutely dry and dead. Sent an email and the response i got was poorly and unprofessional.”

“I wish I had read the reviews before I ordered. Sent a plant for a very special birthday and there was no information sent on the plant at all. The person did not know what they received- there were no instructions. Nothing, Disapointing.”

“What a sham this company is. Virtually every review is written in the same vein from dissatisfied customers. Greatly overpriced, poor quality plants, appalling customer service and lack of care. Do not be taken in by pretty pictures and promises, you will be bitterly disappointed.”

“I really wish I had read the reviews before spending on this website. A plant arrived damaged. Crocus repeatedly said they couldn’t open photo attachments sent (which has never been a problem before in years using an iPad) then proceeded to send me long narratives about their IT system. Their last email contained a long narrative about their horticulturalist reviewing plants - despite their acknowledgment that I had told them it was damaged in packing! Due to this I asked to cancel a further order, on checking dates this request was submitted in good time, but unsurprisingly they have sent me further poor quality plants and charged me. Based on their communication to date, I don’t have the energy to contact them further. I cannot recommend this website.”

“Ordered 4 heucheras at £9.00 each. Arrived promptly and well packaged but oh dear, tiny plants need growing on for at least 12 months before suitable for planting out. Have since bought from local garden centre plants about ten times the size for £6.99. At least after some negotiation got a refund of 50% plus carriage. Very concerning to see so many bad reviews of this company”

“I am usually quite savvy when it comes to shopping from the internet but for some reason I did not research this company...Big Mistake! They are atrocious. Plants arrived well packaged, somewhat dehydrated because my 'rushed' shipping took longer than it should. But good lord, what they sent compared to the pictures on their website, are worlds apart - surely false advertising? Customer Service is a joke. Was instructed to wait 5 weeks to see if they grew. Waited. Waited some more, just in case. Emailed again and they ask for more photos. I actually had to take a photo of the spot in the my garden where I planted one of the plants which died, even though there is no longer any evidence of a plant.........seriously? At this point I reckon they are just getting a laugh out of the absurdity of their request. My advice is just don't bother - save yourself the high blood pressure of dealing with these thieves. Go to your local garden place and make selections from there or grow your own seeds, the end result will be leaps and bounds better than the product you get from Crocus.”

“Ordered 6 plants from them because I couldn’t get them from my local garden centres. Was told they were in stock and would be despatched in two to three days. After a week I chased them and they said they were a little delayed and would be despatched soon. Three days later they arrived. When I opened the box I was pleased with the packaging but the plants were in awful condition. Most of the leaves were dry and brown and the plants were very small, too small to be planted out. I managed to get a refund of 50% of the cost and to keep the plants. I have reported them in the hope that they will recover. Very poor quality and yet one of the most expensive plant suppliers on line. Shame you can’t give a “no star” review. Avoid this company and buy elsewhere.”

“Do not use! I ordered an Obelisk. Someone else’s order was sent, including live plants. Customer service was quite rude, just demanding I returned the goods. Not at all helpful when it was their mistake. Refused to send me another box to package them in. So I said, I’ll wait for my obelisk to arrive then I will use that box. Reply was that actually, the obelisk was temporarily out of stock now (having previously said they had located it and would be sending to me ASAP) and I must return the items. So I cancelled my order, and it took 3 of us to piece back the original torn box, wrap in cling film and parcel tape etc and leave for courier. Courier would arrive between 8 am and 8pm. I was warned that I would be liable if I left it outside! Not heard anything, I assume they’ve received the parcel. No thanks. No voucher. Nothing.”

“60 tiny sized plants arrived, little more than seedlings. I definitely did not order plug plants. The photos, description and reviews indicated that the plants were mature plants. So small that they will need to be grown on in the greenhouse. Long delays in customer service response.”
