Bought the razor kit with the gel, great look and presentation. I shave daily and you can only use the razor once as it clogs up between the blades and won't rinse out even when done as shown in their videos. I tried using shaving foam and even just a wet shave and had exactly the same issue after just one shave with each blade as if you try to use it again it just glides over the face not shaving anything. I contacted the company last week and still haven't had a response to my issue. Seems they just want to shift the product and not care about customer satisfaction... Will not be recommending

Nice looking razor engraved etc, but the most important part is the blade an what type of shave you get, so the blades! The blades are not flexible enough, almost like the old fixed blade. Sometimes on a pass the blade just slides off the face not taking stubble with it. Yes cheaper than gillette fusion but not of the same quality. No edge trimmer either. I suppose you are buying a cheaper product so the quality of the blade is compromised. My membership is on hold.

Sorry to hear that Saqib - we'd like to think we offer quality at a low price, but we do always listen to our member's feedback which is why we are currently working on a new razor. This will include a more flexible head, better blade spacing and a single trimming blade at the back for an even smoother shave.

It's not great, this. Cool packaging, nice shave products including balm, gel and an engraved handle, but the shave itself? Not particularly close. And the main bugbear is that the blades get so easily clogged. I don't shave every day but perhaps once every 72 hours, and Cornerstone blades just seem unable to handle this. Horribly jammed with shaving foam and bristles, it requires running under a tap and shaking vigorously under a sinkful of warm water before even a bit of the blade is cleared. It leaves you with an unsatisfying shave that takes three times longer than that achieved with a Gillette. Steer well clear of this, is my advice.

We're really sorry if our razor hasn't met your expectations. We're currently developing a new razor which will include better blade spacing - hopefully this will prevent the issues you've mentioned in your review.

My razor has developed what I assumed to be water marks and started to tarnish at the base despite me taking good care to dry and clean it after use etc. - I have made contact with them and so lets see what they have to say.......

Hello there - oh no, I'm sorry your handle has become tarnished. Please send an e-mail to help@cornerstone.co.uk who will be able to discuss this further with you.

The 4 blade razor doesn't clear the hair it cuts very well at all, gets clogged up in a few strokes.

The razor is a cheap rajor - something that you will pay 2-5 GBP for. The blades are not great either. I got some cuts from it as i had to apply lots of pressure to get the shave quality that i get from gillette. Genuinely believe that this is a step down from Gillette Mach 3 and not even comparable to Gillette Fusion. Beware of reviews that are 5* or even 4* - Honestly think that this is not an engineering marvel but simply a repackaging exercise of shaving products that don't sell. People will continue to try it and some people will fail to cancel their trial with 10 GBP off, but achieving the same amount of research and product that Gillette has, is just wishful thinking... Try it as a cheaper alternative to Gillette but be prepared to cancel

As in common with quite a few reviews, I moved from the Mach 3 to give this try, everything arrives all looking good and the business. But unfortunately this is where it fails for me at the business end I tried to persevere with it on holiday but since returning have gone back to the Mach 3, the reason the blade is far to big, doesn't do the angles properly and as for the nicks/cuts and razor burn well too much to bear and that's after 2 shaves, so now my plan is on hold. Plus was very disappointed with the shaving gel didn't seem to help the blade over the skin at all so back to the Gillette gel, then finally using the after balm it stung like nobody's business as the razor created so much burn and with those nicks too not a pleasant aftershave experience. So sorry like to support the best of British but needs to up it's game.

Hi Simon, sorry to hear you were disappointed with the shave. Hopefully you'll be happy to know we are working on a new blade which will include a more flexible head, better blade spacing and a single trimming blade at the back for an even smoother shave :-)

Cornerstone is a good concept, but the blades feel cheap to use, I chose to try them as an alternative to straight edge and twin blade but they simply are not a match to Gillette Contour. As no safety razor is. They are simply too large to to accurately shave under the nose. Shame.but must go back to ridiculously overpriced blades.

Oh no! I'm so sorry you feel this way, Dan, but I'm glad you've found something that works for you. You might be pleased to know that we're working on a new razor with a more flexible head, better blade spacing and a single trimming blade at the back for those twiddly hard to reach places.

The razor and heads arrived very quickly. To achieve any cutting with this razor it is necessary to bend the cheap plastic of the head, and keep it bent. This means you have to apply more pressure than is safe or comfortable. The results are razor burn and a sore face. It also adds to the risk of nicks and cuts. Poor design and quality. Would not recommend.

I have just paused my subscription for the blades but will persist with the other products. I am disappointed with the razor as the blades are too wide and it is impossible to shave out of the way places such as your nose. I will be going back to my Mach 3 until they make improvements. It is just so quick and easy with the Mach 3.

Hi just got my new cornerstone razor and had my first shave with the razor and have found that it was a uncomfortable shave my face feels sore and red and wasn't as cleaner shave as my old razor, my overall few of this product takes me back to shaving with a old type of undoing the top of it and putting in a single blade so I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone else.

The delivery and packaging were tip top and I can't fault them in this area. The first shave was great but I found that the blades dulled faster than my Mach 3. This is a pity because there is so much that is right about this product. However, at the end of the day, the only two standards that matter to me are the closeness of the shave and value for money. Ergonomics and aesthetics ergonomics are junior in criterion, in my opinion.

I was really excited about getting better shaving results with the Cornerstone set. It arrived nicely packed about 5 days after delivery, with the weekend in between, which is fine. The package is nice and the handle with the engraving is definetelly a nice touch. Unfortunatelly that's where the pluses end for me. 1. The face scrub. First of all, i dont think you should exfoliate your face too often, especially if you have sensitive skin (like in my case). Secondly the scrub is really messy to use and the consistency of it is quite rough, dry and not soapy at all. Perhaps it's a matter of getting used to but i tried my wife's exfoliator and it was still effective but not so messy and mush more pleasant experience. This way or the other, didn't work for me at all and also, in my case IT DOESN"T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE in terms of shaving. 2. Shaving gel - was alright but nothing extraordinary. Works like any other shaving thing, i use just any hair conditioner that i have at hand (sic!) and get the same if not better results. 3. The shaver and blades - here comes my biggest disappointment. Firstly i was thinking that perhaps my skin and hand just need to get used to that. So i used it for around 6-8 shavings and i have to admit that my old shaving tool (i will skip the brand intentionally here) was smoothier, faster, gentlier for my skin and especially more accurate. Forconfirmation i even shaved half of my face with the Cornerstone gel and blade and the other with the hair conditioner and my previous shaver. I got better results with the old one and not it was more sensitive as well. 4. The aftershave - i think the best product from all the stuff included. Absorbs quickly, not a lot of chemicals, smells alright but not too strong and leaves face hydrated. So overall, i expected much MUCH more, sorry to say - nice try but definetelly overhyped product in terms of the results you're going to get. Maciej

Hi Maciej, thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback. I'm so sorry that you were disappointed with the Cornerstone shave. We're actually already working on a new, thicker formula for the face scrub, that you might prefer. Many of our members prefer the feel of a Cornerstone shave, but ultimately it does come down to personal preference, and I'm sorry it hasn't been the right product for you. If you would like to arrange a refund, please get in touch with our customer care team at help@cornerstone.co.uk.

First time trying cornerstone. Fair to say I'm happy with the closeness of the shave, but leaves my face feeling irritated afterwards. I have recomenbed 2 people to cornerstone and they have made their orders but I don't think I'll be recommending anyone else, Big let down.

Having used the various incarnations of the Fusion razor and Crabtree and Evelyn Sandalwood Shaving Soap for the past God knows how many years, I was excited by the idea of having all my shaving requisites delivered to my door. I received the box of goodies and looked forward to my first shave. Having used it now for a while, I have the following observations. I should say before I start that I'm guessing all of us are different. What works for some may not necessarily work for others The Facial Scrub goes everywhere! Far too messy and a bit of a phaff to use. The Shaving Gel I felt didn't soften the bristles as well as my shaving soap, or indeed and shaving gel I used a year or so ago (can't remember the name of it). The razor was perhaps the biggest disappointment. In 30 plus years of shaving I have had razor burn a hand full of times, more often than not from using a cheap disposable razor. I broke out in razor burn everytime I used the Cornerstone razor. It is not as flexible as it could be and is very "draggy". I thought perhaps changing blades more frequently might help, but got the same result each time. The Post Shave thingy was a bit of a let down also. Looking at the ingredients, some of the them have been linked to skin problems, (don't have the packaging handy so have forgotten the names), which would be a bit of a worry. So, thumbs down for the Cornerstone for me. I'll go back to my trusty Fusion, my shaving brush and my shaving soap.

Unfortunately, Cornerstone was an utter disappointment for me. Having used my trusty fusion gilette power glide shavers for a while, I thought I might try something new and I liked the prospect of having everything delivered straight to my door rather than having to go buy myself. However, the shaving experience was the worst I have ever had: 1) First, the blades are rubbish - I have never had such a painful shave before and the result was very unsatisfactory - I could achieve a much more closer shave with my fusion than cornerstone. It has left me with various patches where the blade could not give a closer and smoother shave. This is particularly true for the sharp contours on my face, such as the place where the face meets the jawline - the blade head is very inflexible and could not properly shave those areas at all, it was only painful. 2) The face scrub is a disaster as well - like some reviewers have stated below, it is a very messy product that just goes everywhere! Very impractical, and far too strong - it has left me with very dried out skin afterwards, made worse by the blades!! 3) The aftershave balm wasnt much to write home about either. Its ok, a bit too oily, and having looked at the ingredients it contains isoparaffin fairly high on the list - an absolute nono for any proper skin product as it is a comedogenic (i.e. spot/breakout inducing) compound. Overall, this was a big disappointment. Right after the very first shave, the box went straight to the bin, and my subscription cancelled. It has left me with the most painful postshave razor burn and extremely dried out skin I have ever had. Having said all this, it could be because I have fairly sensitive skin - if you have sensitive skin cornerstone products are far too strong and drying so avoid!

Hi Min, Thanks very much for taking the time to give us feedback and I'm really sorry you were disappointed with your Cornerstone shave. We normally get great reviews from customers as our skincare products were developed by British dermatologists and chemists with sensitive skins in mind. I didn't get on with Cornerstone at all. A colleague and I both signed up at the same time having seen strong reviews, and he continues to be impressed with the products. For me, the scrub was good, the gel was fine, as was the balm, but the razors felt cheap and caused me quite a lot of irritation despite shaving as carefully as I could. In order to get all the hairs these blades required far more pressure. Why do companies feel the need to have so many blades on a razor??? I shave far better with a Gillette or Bic 3 blade razor than I do with these. (and I did try shaving at least 4 times with this kit before leaving a review). Sorry, but I'll be sticking with Men-U and some cheaper 2 blade razors.

Hi Jon, many thanks for sharing your feedback with us. I'm glad to hear that you liked the products- I'm sorry you didn't get on with the razor though. I guess it all comes down to personal preference when it comes to the number of blades on the razor, but it is something that we will look into so we can let you know if we ever do launch a new razor with fewer blades :-)
Posted 8 years ago
Not what I expected at all the whole thing feels cheaply made blades that rust after a couple of days not a very good result from the shave I had high expectations from the pictures but sadly the product did not live up at all. Get a lot better results from my gilette razors.

So sorry to hear that Ben. We don't normally get any issues with the blades rusting so I'm really disappointed to hear you've not been impressed with our razor. Our razor handle is made of aviation grade aluminium so it's super strong but lightweight so that shaving doesn't become tiresome (literally). Feel free to drop us an email at help@cornerstone.co.uk and we'll see what we can do for you because the blades should definitely not be rusting, and like I said something we've not had a problem with before.
