Rated 1 out of 5 stars I would strongly advise to stay away… I would strongly advise to stay away from this company. We had booked to go to Bella Italia from Monday the 26th June for 10 nights. 2 adults and 3 children. A few days before we were supposed to go my mother took a bad turn and became terminally ill. We contacted Canvas first on the Friday morning. I even emailed a letter from my mums doctor to say we could not travel. There was no problem with the airline who were more then helpful. Canvas on the other hand were less them helpful. Nobody in the office could give us an answer. Then on the Friday afternoon we got an email confirming our cancellation. When I questioned were we going to get any compensation I got a very generic email from a manager called Steven saying because we only gave 3 days notice we're not entitled to a refund or voucher. We know for a fact that our mobile has been leased out since because we were supposed to be going with friends who are there now and they told us people moved in 4 says later. I have sent 2 further emails about this and have got no further response. My husband rang today to ask to talk to a manager and he was told we were supposed to give 7 days notice! Anyway on top of what has been an extremely difficult time I find it hard to believe that a company would be so ruthless and unsympathetic to our situation. I would strongly recommend to stay away from them! Date of experience: 04 July

Absolute shambles - booked three of the better chalets from canvas and asked for quiet site - was put right next to the entertainment area - shouting and screaming all day until 10.30 at night - The entertainers if you can call them that were so loud - the children could not sleep . The canvas reps were useless and when I phoned the canvas office they promised to phone me back and did not . It was a dreadful experience - well it still is because I am sitting here at 22.25 with all the noise blaring right next to us . It is like being in a third class butlins Porto felice is the site - never using these companies again or staying in this terrible situation

Extremely disappointing. Our holiday was cancelled for COVID 19. No refund was provided and no response provided to countless emails. Eventually got through to a very polite lady who assured that a refund would be provided but nothing materialised. Inexplicably a further charge was then made to my credit card using the details provided. Do not trust this company with your credit card details.

We booked La Rive in France as we have had many excellent holidays with canvas over the years, we were told that it was a Tohapi site which was a sister company of Canvas, there was no mention of any difference between Canvas holiday experience and the Tohapi experience, we were also told that English was spoken on site. When we arrived we found that the reps could not speak a word of English and used hand signs and the google translation on their mobile phones and they insisted on the cleaning deposit being paid in cash, which was contrary to any other sites we have been to where they just take your card number and reserve the deposit just in case. When we got to the van we found there was no air-conditioning, whereas all other vans we have had in the past had air-conditioning, also there was no oven, no kettle, no mop and bucket to keep the floor clean as there always is in a Canvas van. The van was smaller than the normal canvas vans and the bedrooms were so small it was impossible to change your clothes in the bedroom as the room was hardly larger than the beds, the lounge area just left enough room between the kitchen units and table to get past. The quality of the construction of the internals of the van were les than the normal canvas vans. The deck area was one third of the size of the previous vans we had been in and there was no sunbeds as is normal with canvas vans. During the week we were there the reps were never about and when we did tried to communicate with them via the google translation on the phone they were rude and unhelpful, we got more help form the euro camp and al fresco reps than we did from the Tohapi reps. The bed was broke and one of the overbed cupboards was broke and the other broke first time we used it, the mattress protectors didn't fit the mattresses and the double mattress was not a standard size and the fitted sheets we took would not fit the mattress. The floor was covered in dust, the cutlery and saucepans had to be washed again before we could use then as they were not clean enough. see attached photos to verify the above. Although we would use canvas holidays again as there vans are of a good standard with all the necessary equipment, we would never go to a Tohapi site, so if you book through Canvas please make sure it is a CANVAS site not a Tohapi site or you will be disappointed.

Very disappointed that we weren't able to experience the holiday we selected, booked and planned for, to stay at Tohapi Paris Nord. A week before the holiday Canvas phoned to cancel the booking due to "operational reasons". As alternative, three other sites offered, we selected to go back to Croix du Vieux Pont. Allocated mobile in Allee des Bremes #6, where early mornings found mains drainage very noisy with air bubbling up into the toilet. Canvas courier 'bleed' the system but problem return in a couple of days. The holiday was a few weeks ago and still waiting to receive Canvas email with a link to their customer review service, so resorted to using alternative means for feedback.

If you're thinking of booking a holiday with Canvas... don't! just don't. Check the reviews on social media if I don't come across sincerely enough. We stayed at La Baume in Frejus in a Canvas Cabin. The park itself was great, lots of pools, a few shops (don't buy a big inflatable you can't use them in the pool), lots of slides and a bunch of stuff for the kids to enjoy. The kids club leaders aren't great in English so young children will struggle. Now onto the Canvas cabin.... First up we were given a shonky cabin right down by the motorway miles away from everything. if you didn't heed my review (or read this after booking for which you've got my utmost sympathy) and realise that your cabin is down at the edge near the motorway, ask for another one or go and book somewhere else - all night road noise of all the lorries even louder if you're eating outside, you might as well pitch your tent next to the M1. If you're in a newer cabin, lucky you, you might miss a lot of what we experienced! What worked - the Air Conditioning, this was the saving grace, at least it was cool at night. What was broken/didn't work... err lots. the BBQ was so wobbly we had to wedge it between the cabin and a chair to make it usable, the decking gate was hanging off its hinges. The light bulbs were missing or flickering (non-dimmable bulbs on dimmer switches), top bunk bed safety panel was about to fall off, the shower didn't drain properly, the taps were loose, the double bed didn't lay flat and we had to tie it down or have our feet 2 foot in the air when lying on it, missing inventory (no inventory list to check what we missing), all the veneer on the cabin was split/broken and sharp - not safe for young kids with soft skin, light fittings hanging out of their settings with live wires exposed, units starting to fall off the walls, drawers that didn't close... You should get the picture. Pity I cant share pictures or videos of the issues. The staffing - ratio of staff to cabin is lower than for any of the other vendors we saw onsite so you'll get the poorest service purely as they're already 110% trying to turn around the cabins for the next unfortunate lot visiting. For over £1,000 a week it's daylight robbery and I guarantee you wont leave with a favourable impression of Canvas... don't do it. Eurocamp looked a country mile better. Seriously, even if they are offering it for free, don't do it, you'll thank me.

Booked a mobile home holiday with Canvas to France The mobile van on the overnight stop on our journey was dated but clean. We then spent 12 nights in the campsite in Cantobre an excellent campsite. The mobile home was dated but very clean and the Canvas courier excellent. The overnight stop we made on the journey back was at Chateau de Marais.. On our arrival at the site the courier met us at reception. It was very clear that she did not want to be there. She did not volunteer any information about the site. We were tired from our journey from the south of France and was hungry, Every thing on the site was closed including the reception. The courier showed us to the van and then left. We then left the site to find a place to have a meal. On our return to the mobile van I went to make up the bed and found the mattress stained and the bed room stank of disinfectant, The cupboards were dirty. The very small toilet did not have a hand basin to wash your hands after using the loo and you had to walk through the eating area to the shower room to wash your hands. The van was dated and dirty. We did not sleep and decided to leave as soon as the main gates were opened at 7am . With the car loaded we went to the main gate at 7am to find it locked. we waited some time and then phoned the courier whom we had not seen since the night before, She eventually turned up but did not know what to do or who to contact. She in turn phoned the canvas maintenance man who in turn did not know what to do or who to contact. If it had been an emergency requiring an ambulance or fire engine they would not have gained immediate entry to the site, There was no security staff available. Both the canvas staff quickly gave up and cleared off leaving us by the locked gate. In the end I drove around the site and found the chateau that the owner lived in after knocking at his door for ages he answered . He came to the main gate and he could not open it, In the end he let us out of his private gate. When we got home I complained to canvas customer services and requested a refund in cash for the overnight stop. The other 13 days were fine, Karen Redford canvas customer services informed me that they could not verify my complaint as they could not contact the courier as it was the end of season, She made no effort to contact the owner, nor would she agree to refund the £44 cost of the overnight stay and without consultation sent a voucher. I have booked holidays with canvas a number of times and although their mobiles are dated they are clean and the staff helpful. Things do go wrong at times and I expected a better response from canvas and a refund fore the dirty van and the other things that went wrong. Because of the response I received from customer services at canvas I will not book a holiday with them again.
