Good grief! I was expecting to be waiting in a queue for hours to get someone to answer but no, within minutes my call was answered. Within less than five minutes I'd been given a refund, my direct debit had been decreased. I can't believe how efficient they were on this occasion.

Chris Oshea should be ashamed of his salary. A customer with BG for 40 years. Can't get a wrong bill sorted. Cut off bot chats. Technical issues or we are busy at the moment. Asked for call back. Nothing. Customer Service is a Disgrace!! They Don't Understand the point I am making regarding my wrong bill. Shocking treatment!!!

Talk about messing you around. I booked a service and said as the house is empty, we will be driving 150 miles to get to the appointment. Went for the 08:00-13:00 slot. I arrived, and at 10:50, they called to say it would now be after 13:00. Called them back and said are they sure it will be after 13:00 and the lady said it could be as late at 18:00. I explained my situation that my father was in a care home and is very ill so I will go and see him now if I have to be back and wait till possibly 18:00. Got to where I was going and the engineer called at 11:15 and said he is on his way and will be with us in less than 30 mins. So had to drive back. The care plan we have in place costs over £60 a month. This is a crazy amount of money and I will most certainly be cancelling the plan as the customer service is terrible. I am so angry as they have me running about for them.

They changed my gas meter from PAYG to credit meter without my permission now over 10 months every day i call them nothing changed they are bunch of liars and Idiots avoid them

Parents died, rang up multiple times to tell them but they still threaten you with a collection agency. When it in probate it’s not in anyone’s hands.

This is a follow up to my review a few days ago referring to my 5 month overdue payment from British Gas for Smart Export (solar Panels). I did make one more attempt to speak with someone in the complaints department and he seemed quite shocked they had not paid after 5 months. To my absolute surprise I found a payment into my account within 2 days for the amount they owed. But then discovered the money sent to me had been withdrawn from my British Gas account which was in credit. This just gets worse , so now still trying to get the money owed to me for Solar Panel Smart Export now overdue by 5 months and trying to find out why they have sent money from my Electricity account. I think the only way out of this is to take legal action for the money they owe me and just switch to another supplier for electricity. I cannot deal with these clowns anymore !

Totally useless customer service - they just don't care and no one knows what's going on from one person to the other and then if you're unlucky you get to talk to their call centre in Cape Town, South Africa, even if you can understand what they are saying nothing they say makes any sense.

On the old App you could change your direct debit, up or down. The new App doesn't allow you to reduce your monthly amount even though you're paying double (I know that having a smart meter and a display unit. They're quick enough to put it up but try to get a refund.

Totally useless company - like banging my head against a wall. Their smart meters for both elec and gas have not worked smartly for months. Now the electric meter packed up totally. I have been chasing for 2 weeks, even raised a complaint. Their agents are absolute idiots, not sure if they have them in sweatshops halfway around the world - like the worst dimwits. Can't wait to leave their service

British Gas is totally inept. We left British Gas at the end of January after two complaints because of the total muddle they got our account into. We have paid the bill up to the date that we moved to our new provider. British Gas are still sending demands for meter readings from us despite the fact we are no longer a customer. Our new provider has been left with the problem of sorting out all the errors British Gas made. I could give much more detail but I will only say that British Gas does not even deserve a one star rating.

Honestly the worst company in the world. Firstly we've tried to book a smart meter installation multiple times and each time nobody has showed up. Each time we phone to ask about it they say we never made a booking in the first place. We live in a rural area so getting meter topped up can be an issue as British / Scottish gas only have certain paypoints. We have nowhere to top up after 5pm in our town. Many times we have been caught out as we work 8am-5pm and although they have the ability to send out an engineer to get it the electricity back on for the night until we get to a suitable paypoint in the morning, we were told they won't send one out unless someone is physically dying in the house? What the actual christ is happening? You are a electricity company not a priest. What you coming out to see half dead people for? Try looking after customers better in the future. But obviously not us as we will be leaving ASAP. Avoid at all costs. Below I've attached a photos of what the inside of my house looks like. Cheers now.

Utterly terrible service. From when I joined and all good the issues getting an account accurately set up, through to my current nightmare getting smart meters fitted (Just told that there is no record for the FOURTH scheduled appointment for Monday. Trapped on a plane for now but will change provider as soon as I can. Dreadful experience so far.

Seriously speechless! I suspect that do those people working at British gas even has brains in their heads, useless people, first time and last time dealing with them and I discourage everyone I know not to do anything with british gas, they can’t do anything correct, such a joke, disgusting useless people!

What an absolutely awful experience that was. being a British Gas customer for one month. I spent much of the time, on the phones and online, trying to sort out a problem that one of their customer service staff had created ie giving me a different takeover date from when it actually occurred, hence resulting in a mix-up between my former energy company and British Gas, resulting in a late final payment. The wrong meter readings were documented by some of British Gas staff, leading to incorrect bills, which had to be 'repeatedly' withdrawn. I just 'gave up' with British Gas completely. Yes, I got compensation but to be honest, there was no compensation that could remedy such an experience. I feel traumatized! Some of their staff there have 'no clue' as to what they are doing and one even person asked me "What is the difference between 'Miss and Ms'; well, I did not know that I was a customer, waiting to train their staff and their staff, definitely need training. The only satisfaction I have got from being with British Gas, is the installation of two new meters! I have switched companies now and what a relief that was. Phew!

Got a letter from debt collector working for Scottish gas for the sum of £75. The address in question was sold before the billing period SG were informed of the selling date and even sent out final statement and cancellation of direct debt payments. Trying to speak with someone is a lost cause phone number then put the account number in and the account is not recognised then live chat 🤣 completely useless going round in circles will wait the 8 weeks and inform the ombudsman. Would advise do not touch this company ok until things go wrong be warned it should be a no star

British Gas have taken over 5 months to send me money from an underpayment back in October 2023 for my Smart Export . Every month they say sorry for their mistake and payment will arrive within 28days. It never happens , what about my late payment charge as I understand they charge £13 if 14days late? Even Customer complaints said it would be paid within a day or so, that was three weeks ago. Unless received within 14 days will put in court hands and pass on costs. A joke if a company !

Dreadful incompetent company. They installed a new boiler with the condensation pipe going not to the waste system but straight onto the wall. The erosive discharge has now caused damage to the building. During the regular service their engineer did not clean the system of accumulated sludge, which resulted in temporary death of the boiler. And they charge for all this ‘work’. Avoid!
