“Hired a floor cutter from these people. First machine broke down and was supplied with a heavily worn blade which only gave us about an hour of proper use. This wasted a whole day of my laborers time. Had to pay £99 for a new blade - this came in the form of two further used blades. Bearing in mind you can buy a brand new blade for £160 this is very poor value for money. Second machine supplied worked OK, so we were at least able to get the job done, but then it wasn't picked up according to the schedule and got in the way. Worst of all I complained about all of this to the management of this company they did nothing to compensate me. Avoid.”

“Good service and pleasant staff. However, there were issues for me to be able to speak with someone directly. They mischarged me but then refunded very quickly. The advertised price does not include lots of fees. The delivery and pick up had errors for me.”

“Last Tuesday I arranged a hire of a lawn scarifier this weekend. The weather forecast was perfect and I arranged for time in my schedule to carry out the scarifying of my lawn made necessary by the long period of hot weather this summer. It was delivered satisfactorily, however the delivery driver was unable to help me familiarise myself with what should be the simple process of starting the machine or operating it. I did as he suggested and rang the Brandon office. Your colleague Rob gave me clear instructions to no avail. It would not start. After my trying for five minutes or so under his instruction by phone, he offered to come to me. Clearly he left his office immediately and arrived within 20 minutes (around midday on Saturday), accompanied by the delivery driver. He was unable to start the machine before he changed the spark plug. I asked him when it had been checked and he told me that he had done so the previous day. I found this very surprising. Eventually, the machine laboured into life. There followed serval minutes of Rob attempting to keep the engine firing. Eventually it was achieved by regulating the choke and I was advised to run it on half choke. I used the machine for half an hour or so, during which it stalled on numerous occasions. On the final occasion it did so I could not restart it, whatever adjustment I made to the choke. I broke for lunch. I returned to the machine half an hour later and after half a dozen attempt to start it, the pull starter cord snapped. (It was old and obviously had been pulled on countless occasions). The machine looked – and was – ‘clapped out’. It was not in working order when delivered, it required servicing before it would start and broke down soon after your colleagues left. It is clear to me that rather than having a policy of renewing your hire equipment regularly you hire out machinery until you disappoint and inconvenience your customers by hiring out unreliable old equipment. I have missed this first-class opportunity to carry out this job, whilst the grass is growing, which is necessary. You cannot put this right; however, I do require an immediate, full refund. “I thought overall the service was good although the carpet cleaner I hired could also be used for upholstery cleaning but unfortunately the attachment provided with the machine was not functional it needed a spray attachment to be fitted which I managed to Rob from the carpet cleaning attachment to make it work! My dissatisfaction was that this was not checked before the machine was hired to me. This was acknowledged when I returned the machine but no compensation even verbal was given or acknowledged which disappointed me.”

“The day before the rotavator was due to arrive I was telephoned to say they didn't have the heavy duty rotavator I had ordered but were going to deliver a medium duty rotavator and refund the difference. I needed the machine before the rains were due, so I had to accept this. The machine arrived on time and I managed to get the ground prepared, albeit, I believe, with more difficulty than if I had got the machine I wanted. Although the machine was delivered late in the day, it was collected early in the day so I did not have it for the full 7 days, although the job had been completed.”

“Hired a woodchipper but had a surprise when arrived at the store to be told firstly it wasn't ready at the branch and secondly it wouldn't fit in my car (despite the details saying it comes to pieces so it would fit). However, the branch was fantastic and arranged to deliver it out to me at no charge once it arrived in the branch and to extend the hire period beyond the day I had booked it for at no charge. In the end, it arrived late morning and the delivery driver was really helpful in showing me how it worked. As it was we managed to finish the same day and a quick call and they picked it up the following morning. Therefore despite what could have been a challenging situation the staff at the Eastleigh branch were fantastic. Great service all round, thank you.”
