Advertised items that were not in stock, took my money then said a 6 week wait for the items. After 6 weeks they cancelled the order! Atrocious service.

Dear Peter, We apologise that we were not able to fulfill your order. Unfortunately the item that you ordered had been discontinued by our supplier. As you paid via PayPal the payment would have been automatically taken at the time you placed the order. As soon as we were informed that we could not get the item, we contacted you and gave you a full refund. When we are informed of discontinued items we remove them from our site, unfortunately in some cases, we do not find out the item is discontinued until we place an order with our supplier. I recently bought a garden chair from Barnetts. The Lily Relax Double Seat. The product is really poor quality, with numerous split pieces of the wood and the finish is poor. It feels like it’s not been sanded down to give a smooth finish.

Web site said in stock, once paid e-mail said out of stock, received good after date I needed them. Ended up going to screwfix on the day I needed them and got the same cheaper. Not happy

I would like to apologise for the stock error with your order. At Barnitts we do regular checks to keep our stock figures up to date but unfortunately on this occasion a mistake was made and our records were incorrect. We emailed you within three hours of your order being placed to let you know about the problem and invited you to amend or cancel the order if required. Moving forwards we will continue to improve our systems to avoid this kind of mistake happening again in the future.

What should have been a simple return of a damaged toaster with a replacement for a wedding this weekend was frustrating & impossible. Simply posting out a replacement on time for the wedding & allowing me to get to post office separately to return an option not permitted. Customer Services allowed me only £8.99 return postage when cost was £12.98 & insisted that I was at home to swap toasters! Most of your customers are not at home during day. Response from E Commerce manager was defensive & indicative of lack of maturity & experience. I went to John Lewis finally.

Dear Jill, We are sorry your item was damaged. We are always happy to collect damaged items free of charge via our courier DPD. If a pick up is not possible customers can drop off their damaged goods at any local DPD collection point to be returned to us. If customer's prefer to deal with the post office we can only refund postage costs of up to £8.99 due to the items weight. Most online stores including John Lewis use couriers for bulkier items.

Cancelled my order after 4 days, it would appear they don’t really price match as promised even with a reputable supplier! Disappointed is an understatement, poor customer service, do not promise if you cannot deliver. Disgusted.

Dear Rob, We always do our best to complete price match orders, unfortunately there are occasionally factors that prevent us from completing our price promise, such as the supplier and their stock levels. Our price match form clearly states that we reserve the right to refuse a price match request for any reason. We are sorry that you were not happy with our customer service, customer satisfaction is very important to us, we will explain these factors more clearly in the future, if there is ever another instance were we cannot price match an order. We apologise that there was a stock error with your order. We partake in regular stock checks to help prevent errors in stock. Unfortunately it appears on this occasion our stock was incorrect. As soon as we realised this we refunded your order and informed you of our error.

Cutlery basket won't stay upright, so to me that is a fault, but I was told that unless the item is faulty, I will not be refunded the pay the postage, plus I am not able to exchange it for another more sturdy item, I would have to re-order, which will mean paying more postage. Absolute madness, so needless to say I shall NOT be shopping with BARNITT's again. I was a first time customer and now am a one and only customer.

Dear Patricia, We are always happy to refund postage on faulty items, we always request that the item is sent to us to be inspected and once we have confirmed the item is faulty the postage will be refunded. On this occasion we did not receive the item back for inspection. We were unable to pick this item up for an exchange, but offered to return the item cost once returned.

Hello, we were very disappointed with out purchase. It was clearly damaged, scratched, dented in many places and angles, the mesh had an imperfection with a horizontal line completely missing and it looked old and used many times. We were shocked with its appearance and that it could be sent out like that.

No email with regards to order even though I emailed asking where my order was. 5 week wait and only replied when I opened a dispute on PayPal will never use again

very disappointed to get an e mail this morning asking for feedback on the order when I have received nothing and have not had a card put through my door. Just tried to phone customer services and was the usual "we are experiencing a high number of calls" was played . Left a message and yet to hear anything back. not impressed.

Out of stock, and told about it after I had spent the money. Then took the money and dispatched the item when back in stock despite me clearly instructing them no to do that or hold my card details.

I ordered my items on 15th June 2015 & received them on 3rd August, 7 weeks later. Very poor service not very happy. I did not receive any feedback as to why it was taking so long.

Placed my order 102331 on 29 June. It's now 16 July and still waiting. Have phoned and was told it was being shipped on the 10 th. still nothing. Won't be ordering from you again

I did not receive my order that I had to wait a few weeks for as it was out of stock. The reason? On the very day it was due to be delivered, Yodel, the delivery company, refused to deliver it as it was 3cms over their parcel size limit. Whist I appreciate that this is not entirely Barnitts fault, other than they employ the services of this stupid delivery company. The thought crosses my mind can anyone rely on receiving goods that have to be delivered? The answer is NO
