“My old pair - now about 20 yrs old - were a size 4. I ordered a size 5 as I'm now a 4.5 and I also wanted some sock room. They are huge! I'm keeping them because returning is a hassle and they're wearable with a big insole.”

“Extremely light, good fit but the squeekiest shoes ever. They freak my cats out, and I could never wear them in public, home use only. EDIT- Following advice from Seller to use talc powder to stop the squeeking (which it did, but for how long I don't know yet) I have added a further star. No 5 stars since this advice should be given with the order and if I didn't have talc to hand I would have to buy it. Great shoes now though!”

“Hi, I was delighted with the style of these backdoor shoes, they look so smart and such a good fit that my husband even wears them when going to get the daily paper.......would give five stars except they squek when he walks and that drives me mad!!!”

“Wanted to give 5 stars as shoes were ideal and were a great hit with recipient, however the sizing was way out. He is usually a size 11, so ordered a size 12. Too small, returned and reordered a size 13. A bit big, just hope they don't stretch!”

“I ordered a pair of Backdoor shoes in size 8/41 but they are too small for me although they fit several other members of the family. The reason they don't fit me is I take a size 8 shoe which is not European size 41 it is size 42. I would love it if you could begin to accommodate those of us women who have large feet. One of my daughters is also a size 8 and she agrees with me that size 41 is a 7 and a half.”

Hi Teresa, Happy New Year to you! We were just reading through our reviews and spotted yours mentioning a squeak - I thought I would let you know that on the rare occasion this happens, there is a very easy fix for this. If you pop a little talcum powder underneath the insole this should instantly solve the squeak. If this doesn’t resolve the issue we can send some replacement insoles. “Recently purchased Chelsea type boot, which is great for the garden and good value. They do come up quite narrow though and a bit of a struggle to get on. Not a great tread compared to more expensive brands, but fine for garden wear.”

We always aim for 5 so I hope the info below will help : We use a unique material for comfort which we know helps us gain our excellent reviews - Almost 7000 5 * Of course, after time like all shoes they wear on the heal and the sole . We’re proud to boast that we do have some customers still wearing their originals , some well over a decade old. We liken the wear to car tyres - when they become smooth you will need to replace but that usually takes quite some time. We note that you’ve purchased yours fairly recently so please do send us an image of the wear your have experienced so far.
