Stay away! I underwent eye laser surgery there, and it went wrong. They assured me it could be easily corrected and we scheduled another procedure a few months later with the same surgeon in London. Unfortunately, the second surgery also went wrong. A staff member admitted a mistake had been made, but when I attempted to file a complaint, they became defensive. They refused to refund my money and breached the contract for lifetime aftercare by refusing to provide additional care when I sought a second opinion

Hi I had ICL surgery in both my eyes as I was short sighted I thought I will get 20/20 vision which unfortunately I didn’t. I thought il be lens free, I paid 5k but it looks like I have to wear lens again or do laser for my right eye as I cnt see, I’m seeing the same as I was in my lenses . The staff were very kind and so was the consultant. But not happy with my result

We bought Optimax to replace the floors in our new home! I Loved the floors but when it gets warm out they start to buckle! When it’s cold outside they are great! Unfortunately, we live in Florida. What a waste of a lot of money!

Undoubtedly the worst decision I have made in my life and one I regret everyday of it. I had lasek done at their Glasgow branch 18 years ago. The surgeon who did the procedure was abrupt and seemed to be rushing the job I remember thinking this is not a good start and wondering just how much training he had. After a couple of days of feeling like having hot sand my eyes and keeping them covered from any daylight which is normal in the recovery period I thought things would get better but now I have halos and star bursts in poor daylight and in the the dark, even the normal day driving lights of on coming cars on a dull day cause star bursts. I used to enjoy driving but from the day I got this done I have not and driving at night is impossible. I also suffer from dry eyes and fading colours. It's getting worse with time. The free life time after care is non existent. I if I ring them up for help the person I apparently need to talk to is always "unavailable at the moment but we will call you back"...... Needless to say they don't! So if your thinking of getting laser eye surgery Don't do it..... The sales hype is great .... "just imagine waking up in the morning with 20/20 vision and not having to reach for your glasses?" I would sell my soul to go back to the days that I wore glasses. I was told that I was a perfect candidate for this surgery and the risk of getting halos and other problems was very small.... Don't believe it, you just need to read some of the other reviews on here to see that it's a very real problem. DON'T DO IT! The chances are you will ruin your life and it can't be fixed.

I had i.c.i. implants 17 years ago and have now read in the newspapers that people are now being recalled by Optimax and informed that these implants are dangerous ! No-one has tried to get in touch with me although I still live at the same address and have the same telephone number ! I have just rung Optimax and asked about these reports and were told that someone would ring me back so I am waiting to see what will happen . Mrs. R.R.

I was recently contacted by Optimax to book an urgent appointment for a cell count check after having lens implants around 17 years ago. At the appointment I was told I have a very low cell count and the implants now need to be removed. Which they said will do for free. I was never notified in previous years to have a cell check. I have placed this comment as I notice this situation also happened to someone else who placed a comment on hear.

I have just found your forum as I have been looking for information on optimax and lens implants with regards to endothelial cell damage. My wife has just been contacted by optimax after 17 years of having a lens implant. She has now been told the lenses need to be removed and her endothelial cell counts are dangerously low. We are going for a second opinion privately but really looking for more information and what the future holds.

My eyes and life were ruined by Optimax. Owner Russell Ambrose only cares about money while patients have been permanently damaged & left blind. Google Sasha Rodoy & Optimaxreviews.co.uk for the truth. 😢

I originally had Lens replacement surgery in November 2019 with the understanding and assurance from both Opthometrist and surgeon that my reading vision would be corrected - (prior to surgery I had minor reading prescription and my distance vision was unaided). I was advised that Laser Correction wasn’t possible and was recommended Lens Replacement as ‘it’ll mean you’ll never have the risk of cataracts in later life and won’t need laser top-ups at a later date like you do if you have laser surgery now’ (this was basically what was told).
Post-Surgery revealed the true extent of how ‘dangerous’ this UNREGULATED INDUSTRY actually is and how little Optimax will disclose to their patients with regards to the true extent of the side effects. Ghosting, halos, flares, dry eyes, blurry vision were the results I was left with within a few days of surgery… (Don't believe their words when they say these side-effects are very rare... they are actually very common) and on all additional monthly follow-up appointments I was regularly told ‘you’re still in recovery period, your eyes will adjust’… After 6-8 months post-surgery (despite being told initially the recovery period was 3-4 months), my sight was still awful and I was given YAG laser treatment which I was assured would get rid of my cloudy vision (which it didn’t). A couple of months later I was told by their ‘Medical Director’ that I needed laser correction and a week prior to having this laser treatment was told by the surgeon that the laser correction would not correct my issues. (Yep, sounds like the Circus was in town doesn’t it!) I would definitely NOT recommend this company to my worst enemy (well, maybe to my worst enemy yes) but if you value your sight I’d highly recommend a good pair of glasses or contact lenses. Please believe me when I say’ GLASSES ARE YOUR FRIEND’. Don’t take the risk because you could potentially lose your sight completely from these surgical procedures. I’ve gone from having minor prescription glasses (solely for reading and computer work) to now not being able to see anything with any clarity (near / mid or distance). The halos and glare are terrible especially at night and my peripheral vision has also been affected… and the dry eyes I’m left with are a complete nightmare and debilitating despite using drops regularly. Over £6500 has been paid to Optimax for the treatment I have had and I am left with worse vision - I don’t call that a reputable service nor value for money. If you're still in any doubts after reading my experiences (and indeed the many bad reviews on Reviews.io AND Trustpilot), please follow-up with a general google search of 'OERML'. If I had done this before letting Optimax touch my eyes I would have been so much more informed and unlikely to have had any surgery at all. IMPORTANT NOTE: What Optimax are not telling their customers is that on 27th November 2020 Optimax filed a 'Company Voluntary Agreement' (details of a 'CVA' can be found on the UK Government webpages 'GOV.UK' under 'Selling your business and closing down') so, reading between the lines, potential new customers should be very careful when parting with their money. Needless to say, the 1-Star rating is being generous and purely because there is a lack of negative-stars! After more than 12 months of issues which Optimax, they sent me a gagging-order explaining they would refund my payments on condition that i agreed never to disclose my Optimax experiences in any means including conversation, social media etc. Needless to say, this was rejected. People should be informed of this barbaric and unscrupulous industry - Optimax profit on the misfortune of others. ——---- I don’t expect a response from Optimax regarding this review and any response will probably be along the lines of ‘we’re sorry to hear your experiences…. please contact us to discuss further…’ which is of no benefit what-so-ever unless talking has now become a miracle cure for vision issues (which I’m pretty sure is not the case!) I hope this review is both constructive and helpful for people considering vision correction and must add that I have been as positive as i can about this company. Their customer service is terrible, they mislead potential clients and entice them with false claims and they have no sympathy with the victim when things go wrong. ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING SERVICE.

MY LASEK LIFE I had lasek in august 2019 in Milton Keynes. I am now left with a constant feeling of dread worry and anxiety. The pain and daily torment from the recurrent corneal abrasions I now suffer from is excruciating. *Migraines *Severe dry eye *Meibomian gland dysfunction The real risks were not truly discussed with me. Have they been discussed with you? DO NOT PUT YOUR LIFE IN THE HANDS OF THESE BUTCHERS. I was sold a dream! I'm now living a nightmare! To top that off I've brought my whole family along for the ride

Severe dryness, pain, everything blurred. Now I can't go out, can't travel, no longer able to work full-time. Lied to by Optimax. No aftercare. Do not go near them.

My life has been wrecked by surgery at Optimax. I suffer pain and poor vision and can no longer do any of the things I used to enjoy. I don't go out, don't see friends and family, and life is completely miserable. With any luck I'll get knocked down by a bus. I am not exaggerating. Optimax have misled me and lied to me. They do not care at all about patients. They are only out to get your money and will do all they can to get it, regardless of the dangers they subject you to. I could have said more but I thought I would keep brief, what is an honest, fair appraisal. If I could have given them no stars or better still, minus stars, I would have.

Optimax have ruined my life. Years on, my vision is the worst it has ever been and I am still in pain. Optimax lie, withhold information about the dangers and pay their staff commissions. The surgeons who carry out the procedures should not be trusted. The fact that they act in contravention of guidelines laid down by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists should tell you enough. Optimax are not alone though. The industry is unregulated and that is a serious problem.

Very disappointed and upset, I booked a consultation with the optometrists about 2 month ago to have laser eye surgery done, it was going so great. I was told that I use suitable for the laser eye surgery, they booked all my appointments with the surgeon and the surgery, they said I need to pay £60 non-refundable fee so that I would be seen by the surgeon before any surgery happens as he will have the last say. Was so excited to meet the surgeon on the day I went to Optimax Finchley to meet the surgeon, Once I went to the room to meet the surgeon not even 5min went past and the surgeon said i am not suitable for laser eye surgery as my prescription is high and I got high astigmatism, and said I don’t know why the optometrists has taken this further as he should of picked this up straightway he should of not had booked you in for a surgeon appointment. Called customer service once I was back and explained them what happen they go we can’t do anything as you was told it’s a non-refundable when have consolation with the surgeon. They didn’t even listen what surgeon said to me. So from start the optometrist knew I wasn’t suitable for it but he still sent me so they can take that £60 of me very poor robbing people like this. It was a mistake on their side if that was the case then I would not have paid £60 to them and lose out my money!!

Fantastic company, had my eyes layered the end of 2014 in Leeds by Dr Samual. He was really caring and reassuring and answered all my questions. I had lasik surgery and when i woke up the next day my vision was perfect and has been ever since. The whole team, especially the Manager, Tracy are absolutely fantastic, would recommend this company to anyone.

I hate myself for having this surgery every day. I was under-corrected and left with astigmatism in one eye, plus floaters, halos, starbursts and dry eye, even 12 years on. Why did I think glasses and contacts were so bad?!

Using Optimax lens replacement was the worst decision I have ever made. In my life.Their risk-management is abysmal and their competence is virtually nil. Six years after my procedure I have had to have my left eye removed and my right retina has detached. Their aftercare is a joke. Unfortunately I cannot give them zero stars
