Mark E
In their ‘welcome’ letter Williamsons state that “I shall see that you are always kept informed of the progress we are making." On 31/3/21 I sent an email to my solicitor entitled “Unreasonable? (URGENT)” because I had received no update for 8 days following confirmation and communication to my solicitor of probate being granted and moving towards sale of property. As we moved towards completion of the property sale I received a message on Tuesday 11/5/21 at 5pm asking for a quick response “The buyers wish to complete this coming Friday. Thus, if you have no observations on the Transfer as now prepared, can you please print it at your end. Can you please sign on the dotted line below which your name is printed. Your signature must be witnessed by an independent witness, who must sign and then print his or her name, address and occupation where marked. Without dating the document, can you please get it back to me post haste. Can you also please print the Contract at your end. Without dating it, can you please sign on the last page on the dotted line to the right of your name and then return to me post haste." I delivered accordingly. On the anticipated completion date (14/5/21) I heard absolutely nothing. I sent an email on the following day – Saturday, as the practice was closed - and received the following message “I am currently away from the office until Monday 24th May 2021 and your email will be dealt with on my return." No alternative arrangements were put in place for me and I was effectively now left high and dry for TEN more days! I was therefore left with no alternative but to escalate the matter to the practice director and company secretary Brian Cook. Thank goodness Williamsons have put this service in place! With the help of Brian Cook alternative arrangements were eventually put in place for me. Unfortunately I was forced to call on the help of Brian Cook AGAIN on 3/6 /21. My email included the following “…the latest correspondence that shows I have (again) been ignored for over 10 days by my solicitor in conjunction with his apparent failure to respond to my buyer's solicitor thereby incurring unnecessary delay, when we should be close to completion.” Despite the above appalling service I was then billed for £3,180 even though my quote was for £2,000 to £3,000. In conclusion. Don’t believe you will be communicated with as promised in the Williamsons welcome letter and don’t believe in the accuracy of any quote for the ‘service’ Williamsons provide.
