I have a new 10ft swimming pool, it hold 800 gallons.
I purchase a 1 litre bottle of Algaecide which states shock dose 1 litre to 10,000 gallons. I applied 1 litre to 800 gallons and left it for 2 days before I tested it. It appears to have done nothing. The test strips are new so not a fault on them.
It appears to me it may be watered down.
