I took the Level 5 TEFL Course. It was very thorough, and sets students up for success as an ESL Teacher. However, the grading system leaves a lot to be desired. The End of Unit Tests are mandatory, and must be passed, yet don’t count towards your grade.. Your mark is based only on the assignments. I spent many hours on each assignment, yet I received low marks. When asked to “resubmit”, or after receiving a low mark on Assignment A, there is no ability to ask the person marking what you did wrong, or how you can do better on the next assignment as your marks on Assignments come from “do not reply” email addresses. I think that’s a major failing of the course. However, the course content does prepare students for teaching English.
