"Rang up to mention I may make a claim for a stain on carpe then decided not to pursue it, then when it was due for renewal I received two separate letters ststing they could not get hold of me on both occasions when I rang up I was asked about the claim, on both occassions I advised the agent I had not made a claim and had no intention of making the claim. On both occassions I was told I would receive the insurance documents the same day needless to say I never received the emails. On the second occassion it was more critical thst I received the policy via email as I was going on holiday
I did not receive the promised policy and due to the time restriction I was left with no alternative but to go on holiday at risk. Upon my return there was a renewal policy received via the postsl service for over double the amount of the previous year I rang RAC insurance where they advised me that if I was not going ahead with the renewal I was to pay a cancellation charge which. I did not agree to pay as I had not been aware I was insured the agent said he would see if he could backdate the policy to the start date so I would not have to pay the cancellation charge and confirmed he had cancelled the policy and therefore would not have to pay the monthly direct debit and would call me to sdvise me whether sanction had been given, I received no phone call. As you can imagine my dismay when they then took the first months direct debit out at over double last years fees
I then rang again and the next agent said the 1st agent had made a mistake and supposedly rectified the 1st agents mistake and re-sent it to the underwriter and it would take 48 hours to process and he would get the 1st agent to call me when decision had been made
A week later I have not received any call so rang 3rd agent due to the payment being taken out whereby it was confirmed that the policy had been cancelled and was advised it would be looked into and theybwould get back to me this process has taken 2 weeks and still I am no further they also advised thst they could not send me proof if no claims even though I have never made a claim in over 30 years as if they backdate my policy so I dont have to pay the cancellation policy I will have a break in insurance and they dont have to provide the proof of no claims
I have been lucky enough to have obtained a far superior home insurance with my bank the Halifax Building Society for around the same I was paying last year and that has been with not allowing for any no claims so not sure if proof of no claims is a benefit
Overall the service I have been provided is unacceptable and certainly would not recommend RAC Insurance I will post an update if it ever gets sorted"
