It's been nearly 2 years since our loft conversion so I thought it was about time I wrote a review. For those who want the short story would we use NK Lofts again, absolutely and are we pleased with the conversion, most definitely. We contacted many loft companies and after thoroughly looking into them all, settled on NK Lofts. Nigel the boss came out to do our quote and to talk us through the process, whilst Keith, the other boss handled the paperwork from the office and along with office manager Tracey, both were always available via phone or email. Once we signed on the dotted line we settled in for the year long wait for our start date to arrive. NK Lofts are a very busy and in demand company. Our build commenced in September 2019, with an 8 week anticipated timescale. Nigel arrived on day one and introduced Darrel as our lead builder/carpenter. Not going to lie, at this point we were a bit worried as it turned out Darrel was only 24 and his build partner Corey was 22!! We need not have worried, they were both brilliant. They were very respectful with regards to our dog, a Doberman who does not like people in our house. They arrived for an 8am start each day and worked through until around 4pm, sometimes a bit later. Darrel gave us a daily update on what had been completed with a plan for the following day and they cleaned up after themselves each day too. Before we knew it, our Dormer was in and Moe the plumber, who was fantastic by the way, was on site getting rid of our old water tank and putting in what seemed like miles of new pipe & a huge new megaflow tank. From there, the build seemed to fly along, with stairs, windows, electrics etc all being fitted. Nigel the boss popped in regularly to check everything was going ok. The electrians were subcontracted by NK Lofts and were a lovely bunch, with the exception of their boss Cliff, he was quite rude. Our only slight disappointment would be the plastering. Most of it is ok, but on one wall in particular we found a ridge running down it from floor to ceiling. It is now behind a wardrobe so doesn't matter to us, but we do wish we had looked at it more thoroughly before the builders left. We didn't notice until we started to decorate. It is just a small niggle and we now have 2 spacious bedrooms and a bathroom in what was previously wasted space. It's amazing what was achieved over those 8 weeks. The final fitting of our remaining bathroom bits were completed by Moe after the builders had gone, so all in all everything was complete in 10 weeks and to budget. Would we do it again?
