I was very impressed by Eagre t/as Yorkshire Doors, but less impressed by the product itself. The company were great with the quote service, the price was competitive, the installation process perfectly smooth, the after-sales was really responsive and keen to make sure everything was as it should be. Ten out of ten for the whole team, a pleasure doing business with them. The door looks great, but two disappointing aspects which there's nothing the door company can remedy really....First the lock. I've never had such a faff to operate a lock before. The fit of the key is fiddly and even after the company visited to ease the mechanism, it often takes more than one attempt to ensure the handle has been lifted fully before the key can be turned to lock the door. Both my wife and I find it less easy and more 'physical' than any other lock we've ever used. Then there's the doorframe. I was only told after the fitting that there would be more 'frame whip' than with a timber door. In other words, when you pull the door closed, the frame bends with it to some degree - more than I was expecting. At first the movement was alarming and the door felt flimsy because the draught excluding trim was catching so much on the frame that it bent alarmingly to close it. Once Yorkshire Doors had adjusted it, the movement reduced, but it still looks a little 'flimsy' to me because of the amount of movement compared to a solid timber frame. I'd think some stiff bracing fitted into the frame may alleviate the problem, but that's a design issue. I wish I had known about these issues before purchasing as I may have gone for a different kind of door/lock, but the team at the company really can't be faulted as they've done their best to address the feedback and every aspect of their service has been really spot on.
