According to Sculptor Susan Lordi, the title of this Willow Tree ornament is a metaphor for the relationship between a mother and her teen-age daughter - a time of letting go, in support of emerging independence. A mother's first response is to protect her child. But the greater gift is to provide the love and trust that helps her daughter find wings to fly. The emphasis on this piece is on the daughter. It's her emerging, her transformation, her unfolding. The title is illustrative of this particular time of life.

“there is a blue mark on the daughters dress in the middle which really shows up, I will be returning it w/c 8th august when I come back from holiday as I need to take it with me as it is for my mothers 70th birthday and if I returned it now I would not receive one in time, I am very disappointed if you want to call me on 07980699519 or email me back asap. thanks Jeanette preston”

“i bought this as a gift and it is nicer in real life as it is in the picture. My Daughter will be delighted with it. //the only reason it never got got 5 stars as the boxes were damaged that doesn't look good when its a gift so i had to go out and buy a suitable gift box and throw other box out. Shame, at least figurine wasn't damaged.”

“A nice, tactile piece to give to my daughter. Nicely crafted. I have another Willow Tree figure, given to me by a friend, which is why bought this for my daughter. It is very simple but can have whatever meaning you put on it.”
