This is a gangster movie that follows a true story of a career of Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) from when he is a teenager right through to adulthood as we see him rise through the ranks of the mafia. The film shows the highs and the lows of his life, showing how the mafia made their money and kept the police quite about it, through his short and comfortable stretch in prison right the way through to Henry Hill being a marked man, forcing him to enter the witness protection program. It is shown in the film how their mafia gang grows to new strengths and how his home life develops.
This film has an 18 certificate, and rightly so. It is as you would expect from a mafia based movie, strong violence and language throughout. This movie shows how the men, who behave as a family would, are always on the edge of being killed themselves from the fear that they might be ratting the gang out. There is an occasion in a film where one mans life rests on anothers decision, which the gangster finds easy to make. This film is a very good addition to the mafia based film group, and is highly recommended for its entertainment and accurate description on the gang life.
