Fantastic Four/Fantastic Four - The Rise Of The Silver Surfer DVD Reviews

I went into this movie with high hopes as I really enjoyed the first film, but, unfortunately left a bit disappointed. It is not that it is a bad film per say but more that it did not have enough substance to engross me into the story. I think one of the major problems was the absence of a major baddy, yes you have the Silver Surfer, Dr. Doom and Galactus but none of these seem to be very threatening or pose much of a challenge to the Heros.

The relationship between Reed and Sue is also moved up a notch with them becoming engaged and trying to tie the knot under the media's spotlight. Johnny's character is also starting to become more grown up and emotional with him thinking about settling down which gives him a bit more depth.

Not to give the ending away, but you probably would have guessed anyway, they save the Earth and live happily ever after.

Watch out for a funny cameo by Stan Lee and also someone who looks remarkably like Ted Danson.

Overall score 4 out of 10.

Decent film, enjoyable with some great effects. Storyline is not massively different from other superhero stories but at least it continues from origional film. Good characters with one villian having a suprising return. Enjoyable for all ages.
