Over the past ten years I must have brought 5 coffee machines. I learnt pretty early on that you get what you pay for from coffee machines so my last 4 machines have been made by Gaggia. The reason for this is simple "They are the best" the coffee they produce is never watery or burnt, which is always a problem that cheaper coffee machines have.
Currently I have two machines one at work, which is the Gaggia Evolution and the Gaggia Titanium at home, which I am reviewing here. When you feel the weight of the Titanium you know you are dealing with a serious piece of kit, it weighs about 20KG. The exterior is a mixture of stainless steel, sprayed steel and coloured plastics. My Gaggia Titanium is 6 months old and I use it every day the only area that shows anywhere is the drip tray that has a few scratches and the coloured plastic steam controller. The coffee produced is as good as if not better than you would get from a coffee shop. It can produce espresso, Americano, and milky coffee using the steamer to heat the milk. You can ether use coffee beans or coarse ground coffee, coffee beans I find produce a much better coffee taste. There is a self cleaning setting which comes in handy which should be used about every 10 days, it last around 10 mins. The only draw back with this machine is that is costs so much and to be honest I still have difficulty justifying spending £699 on a coffee machine.
