Are Ryan Air low cost?

We live about 3 miles from our local airport and 6 years ago there was only one airline flying to 3 destinations per week.... Enter Ryan Air!
Within 4 years Ryan Air are flying to over 40 destinations, some twice per day from our once quiet little airport. Not only do we have more variety on our holiday destination, we are flying at a fraction of the cost we used to 4 years ago! So what's changed and how do they do it? Ryan Air's strategy should be adopted by most airlines; planes only make money whilst they are in the air! So Ryan Air buy the newest planes requiring the least servicing and offering the best fuel econonmy, they have the quickest Tarmac turnaround time of any airline, they don't bother with fancy loading gates or docs, due to their policies many travellers only take hand luggage and they always land at the airport with the cheapest landing fees! The flip side.... Ryan Air always add 30 minutes minimum to each journey time to give the false impression of being on time, even when they're late, luggage restrictions mean unless you can go on holiday with one pair of pants and a hair brush you're stuffed with a £35 baggage charge, if you can use the Internet then you'll be charged £40 for not checking in online (not a pensioners favorite), should you be in any way credit worthy and not have a solo card mention for kids and scratchers you'll be charged £8 for using your card and of course god forbid you're hungry in flight as you may need to remortgage for a bag of peanuts or sell you kidney for a bacon roll. I think everyone can treat Ryan Air in the way their service respects, they are the bus service of the sky, they're clean, cheap, polite, precise, and on time. Remember, they're cheap for a reason, if you don't want to ride the bus then call a taxi and pay the premium! Peter & Diane |
