One of the most moving Books I have ever read

This book has to be one of the most enjoyable and moving books I have ever read. Malorie Blackman, (the author), primarily focuses on divides in society, which then make the main characters' love for one and other - Sephy and Callum - a rather troublesome one.
Sephy is from an upper class family, and Callum a lower and deemed an "unrespectable" class. The reader is introduced to Sephy and Callum as young children who are happily playing together and are iggnorant of the massive inequalities in society, that could prevent their relationship from progressing. Sephy is black, and in this book is therefore more privellaged. Callum is white and lives in a shack compared to Sephy's. Malorie Blackman explores the minds of these young characters, and I can guarantee that you will be thinking like Sephy and Callum, and be feeling the same strong emotions. Malorie Blackman, cleverly changes the narrator in each chapter to again explore the character's mind, thoughts and feelings in to greater detail. This book is a must read, and you will regret it if you do not read it. (Does contain adult themes) |
