A warm family comedy from the BBC

After You've Gone, from the creator of My Family, is a BBC sitcom starring Nicholas Lyndhurst (Only Fools And Horses) as James "Jimmy" Venables, Celia Imrie as Diana Neal, Dani Harmer as Molly Venables and Ryan Sampson as Alex Venables.

So far there have been a total of 16 episodes, all aired in 2007 and more have been commissioned for 2008 and 2009.

Basically, Jimmy is a handyman with two kids (Molly and Alex) from former wife, Ann who has gone to help victims of a natural disaster in Africa. Jimmy's former mother in-law, Diana has decided to move in to help him out. Also, Jimmy has a girlfriend, Siobahn (Amanda Abbington) who is a hairdresser.

The show so far has recieved mixed responses from it's audience, you either like it or dislike it! After You've Gone provides some pretty obvious gags, probably as it's a mainstream family sitcom. It seems to remind me of My Family quite a bit.
Personally I think it's a great show and the actors/actresses were well cast.
The eccentric character of Alex is played brilliantly by the lovely Ryan Sampson, who usually gets the best jokes compared to the other characters. He is always the one who makes me laugh!
Nicholas Lyndhurst performs well as Jimmy and suits the character nicely. However, it does look strange to see him in a pub without Del Boy!
It's good to see Dani Harmer in a different role to Tracy Beaker, and she seems to be pulling her weight.
Celia proves just how impressive her acting range is by playing the snobbish Diana in this prime-time comedy.

Overall, I would say that this is a great sitcom for families to watch for half an hour and if you haven't seen it before, see it!

Thanks for reading!!! Happy viewing!
