Advent T9509 Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz / 2048MB / 320GB / DVD-RW / Win Vista Home Premium Desktop PC System Reviews

I bought this from PC World last August (after a heavy TV advertising campaign!), and am happy with it overall.

I paid about £600 for this (didn't need the screen provided) and have changed a few things to suit my needs:

- I use this computer to make music (some apps are VERY CPU intensive, use a lot of RAM and hard drives need to be very fast too!)

The CPU is simply great - a Quad Core CPU REALLY makes a difference to everyday computing - you can just do more stuff more quickly. (rendering audio or video files is just really enjoyable when that quick!)

The hardware provided is OK but not latest technology (like HD, RAM, Graphics, etc...) but does the job. One thing of concern is the Power Supply in the box - very low output (450W) - which is not good if you wanted to buy this and upgrade parts later.

I had to upgrade the PSU first then add a few things like Graphics etc... later. (In fact I have seen some forums when they had problems even starting this PC because the Power Supply wasn't powerfull enough!) - I did notive it would tke a long time to boot sometimes. With a new PSU - it's all good now!)

Graphics provided are OK for Vista but not good for games if you like playing Battlefield or else - an upgrade is required.

Overall - the really quick processor was the reason I purchased one of those bad boys and of course the price was very good too AT THE TIME: In fact, I paid £600 for this when everybody else was selling Quad Core PCs for £1,200 minimum. Today, you can buy Quad Core PCs for that lower price anyways (Processor on its own costs about £250-£300 instead of £600!) so I would look around a bit more to make sure I'm getting the best deal.

This is a good system - but if you're looking at a Quad Core PC, you probably want something powerful that can handle heavy applications. The Processor is simply out of this world, but like a good car, it's not just about the engine, the rest matters too!

CPU
The Cpu is extremely fast in this pc as it is a quad pc run at 2.4ghz, it is fast enough to run all the latest games and also run other aplications.

Graphics
The graphics are abit of alet down as it only has the nvidia 8300gs with 256mb of graphic memory which may be directx 10 compatiable but does not give excellent results.

PSU
another slight let down is it only has 250w which means if you want to upgrade the graphics then a new PSU is a must.

RAM
this machine has 2048mb of system Ram which is pretty good for playing games etc.

i have this pc i have had it now for sometime now and 3 days befor the guarantee runs out then the prosser melts dute to heat bild up of inside of the case
so if i was you take off the side or get a new case for it
