I have owned the AE5000 for just over a month now. The day I bought it I had a motorcycle accident resulting in a broken leg, and as a result of this I have had a good amount of time to use it! so onto the review...
The sound quality, although mono, is excellent, the crispness of the sound is very nice, but you also get quite pronounced bass, better than you might expect for the speaker size. The only problem is at high volumes; anything over 25 or so and you get quite significant 'buzzing'. Sound/equalizer options are noticably missing, but I don't mind too much as the sound is decent with whatever type of music I am listening to. Headphone quality is brilliant, very nice that you can listen in stereo this way (at very nice quality), not sure if this is standard with the mono DAB radios but a very nice feature nonetheless. Scanning for stations is easy, either a quick local scan, or a longer world-wide scan (holding 'scan' for over 2 seconds). There are many display options, for example it will tell you how good the signal is, from 1-100, v useful for adjusting the aerial. Also such features as the type of station (e.g. talk, alt. music, etc.), the time and date and of course the rolling info. (usually regarding the song, show, competitions etc.) Another nice feature is that you can choose to listen to FM radio (although this is obselete for me). All in all this radio is a nice looker, easy to use, good sound, so I would highly recommend it, especially as you can usually pick it up quite cheap (managed to get mine for £29.99).
