I recently purchased a PS3 and I must say, I am very impressed with it. I was a little dubious as to whether or not the 'next gen' console would be worth the money, but I must say that it is!!
The graphics on the console are far superior to the playstation 2, which is to be expected for the amount it costs, but considering it is also a blu ray player, I think it is amazing value for money. The only thing that disappointed me with the ps3, is that it isn't multi-regional for dvds. Despite this, I would give the console a 9 out of 10 for both quality and value for money. If youre an avvid gamer, this system will not disappoint! A Triumph of Technology

From the second the rather large and quite heavy box was opened I was in awe. It is a beast of a machine and I managed to get my hands on the 60gb version. For the gaming geeks - the machine boasts a 512mb memory purely for graphics and system operations. While the Playstation 2 only provided memory cards as memory expansion, the PS3 provides a vast array of memory expansion/storage capabilities including 6 USB 2.0 ports, a memory stick slot and an SD slot. For those not so interested in gaming, the PS3 allows you to create slideshows of your digital camera photos to show off to your friends; a feature one of mine found rather impressive. Back to the technically minded, the PS3 also supports a removable 2.5" hard drive, so good news for those who only managed to get their hands on the 40gb version. Another wonderful feature for those who already have an HD television is the PS3s support of Blu-ray discs. Until you have an HD television though, this feature is somewhat pointless and pricey if you purchase the Blu-ray discs that will set you back around £20. However, all is not lost, the PS3 still supports standard dvds and will will also play your music cds. If that wasn't enough for the greedy gaming geeks, the PS3 also comes with an Ethernet adaptor (and a wireless support) to allow you to pummel your neighbour into oblivion. For party-time, the PS3 supports 7 wireless controllers - a good opportunity to find out the sore loser of the group (Warning for the over zealous - don't let the guy on anger management play, you may find a controller embedded in the wall opposite)Overall, the machine is spectacular and worth every penny they ask for it. If you plan on buying any console this year, get your hands on the PS3.
