I've always been a Sony man myself and so when the battle of the hand-helds was just getting started I opted for the PSP over the DS Lite. After a few weeks I realised that the PSP was a great product but lacked the fun factor I was hoping for and so I sold the PSP and purchased a DS Lite. Boy am I glad I did. The DS Lite is a very sexy little gadget, looks great (almost like Apple have had a hand in designing it), but most of all is just sheer fun.
The first game I got was Brain Training, which has kept me entertained ever since and has given me something I can work towards each time I play. I couldn't resist picking up a copy of Mario Kart and New Mario Brothers and now I'm totally hooked. These games really demonstrate the awesome design of the console. Having 2 screens brings a whole new dimension to game play, especially with this gadget as both screens are touch screen and serve equal purpose while playing. One's thing for sure with this toy is that it will appeal to old and young people alike. I've noticed that everyone who sees it wants to play it, even my parents who have always detested my games consoles. Interfacing with games is simple and intuitive, and can be picked up in seconds.
The hardware is fantastic, you certainly get a lot for your money. The DS has built in WIFI so you can link to the internet via a wireless router, and can even play games against people on the other side of the world. Again it's easy to do and doesn't require a techno-geek to work it out, even my mum can do it!! Also you can wirelessly link to your friends consoles so multiplayer Mario Kart will soon become your favourite past time.
The game cartridges are very small so carrying all your games with you is never an issue. I have an official DS carry pouch which fits the console and several games and still fits in your jacket pocket.
Oh, and lastly you can stick GBA (Game Boy Advance) games in the DS too so there's no need to go selling your existing games.
All in all the DS is a must have toy, and for the relatively low price you really can't go wrong.
