Call of Daty 4 : Modern warfare.

Let's Face it Call of duty2 has been one of the best xbox live games since launch in 2005 , Up to now I thought nothing could beat it. Call of Duty 3 was released and it was a huge dissapointment. This year we saw the return of the Call of Duty series with Call of Duty 4 : Modern warfare and boy what a game.

The singleplayer:

You start off at training which is a great way to get familiar with the controls.

The game sees you fighting in many different settings including a war-torn arab country and devestated chernobyl. You play as many different characters from different countries. Many battles see the S.A.S fighting along side the Marines to take down the russian communist zakhaev and the arab terrorist al assad.

The game looks great , I could easily say that it is one of the best looking nexy-gen games to date. The amount of detail even in the most minute unimportant objects has been carefully textured.

The sounds in the game are extremely realistic , If you have 5.1 sound and a grenade goes off behind you you'll think that you are in a real war it is really that amazing.

Online Multiplayer:

what can top a great single player? A great Multi -Player!!
Nothing in my opinion could beat cod2 until this came along , It is truly amazing.
This time around the game introduced perks which can be unlocked and selected to give you the edge in combat , these range from extra ammo to being able to hear your enemies in voice chat.
There are many game modes including team deathmatch and sabotage but sadly there is no capture the flag mode. game sizes can range from 1v1 to 9v9.

This game is definately worth a buy , the story is short but fun. The multi player side of things will last you for many many months!

Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Call Of Duty 4 was released at the beginning of November 2007 and it was a release I was really anticipating and looking forward to. I was mightily impressed with the previous games in the series and it is no surprise they both received awards. The good experience of the previous games certainly helped in my decision to buy the game. Call Of Duty 4 though is quite different from its predecessors, for a start it moved away from World War Two and moved on to modern conflicts as reflected by its' release title. This is one of the most refreshing bits of the new game in the series as it gives people an outlook on modern day issues and gives opportunities to experience it albeit in a virtual environment.

The game contains some fantastic graphics and looks excellent particularly if the graphics settings are at the maximum. Every map looks fantastic and contains stunning effects. It's not just graphics , the sound provided on the game also creates a realistic environment to please everyone as it helps feel as if you really are there. There is also great attention to detail on the people in the game as well as the people around look very real.

So the graphics, sound, environment are all a success but how about the game play? It's as much of a success as the above features. One of the vital objectives in producing a game are for the consumers to enjoy it and the developers certainly do this job, they keep the game fun as well as realistic and it keeps the consumer guessing what they're going to experience next all the way through in the single player version and there's plenty of action and responsibilities for people to enjoy throughout the single player. The single player is very fulfilling and is the perfect way to start before progressing onto the excellent multiplayer as the gamer is asked to go after a group of extreme terrorists along with the UK and US military.

If the single player version wasn't enough, Call Of Duty 4 really steps up from previous efforts when it comes to online multiplayer. I enjoyed multiplayer in the previous 2 versions of the game but I enjoy the multiplayer in the latest instalment even more. It now contains a ranking system where people go all the way up to rank 55. This is not only fun, but rewarding as along the way with each new rank there is a new unlock whether it be a weapon or an attachment for a weapon. The game contains 5 weapon and 5 general sets of tests, which each earn experience (XP) which is useful for progressing through the ranks. As the rank gets higher, more XP is needed to progress to the next rank. All these different elements of multiplayer will keep people coming back until they complete everything and even afterwards there is enough to keep people entertained so multiplayer is a huge success. It contains a number of different game modes such as:
Free For All
Team Deathmatch,
Headquarters
Search and Destroy
Sabotage
Each mode offers a new test for gamers as well as something a bit different from time to time. At £29.99 the game is definitely worth it and I will continue to play it for some time. The game developers definitely got this right and deserve success and recognition and I fully recommend this game to anyone who is into this type of gaming genre and particularly anyone who has enjoyed either of the earlier Call Of Duty games.
