Tomb Raider but without the bosoms

Finally someone listened to the ranting that everyone did about Tomb Raider. I'm female and to be honest I'm a huge fan of the Tomb Raider games but this game finally put it to shame and provided some authenticity to the gameplay and story.

So what's it about?

Nathan is a trasure hunter and he ropes a news reporter into his quest for Sir Francis Drakes fortune. Unfortunately, him and his friend Sulley aren't the only ones who want it - queue the bad guys. Basically it's a race to find the treasure of El Dorado using Sir Francis Drake's clues and diary.

So what's the hype?

It's fantastic. The graphics are realistic. The characters are authentic and believable and Nathans shirt gets dirty unlike Miss Crofts perfect appearance. The scenery is immensely beautiful and creepy at times. The gameplay is a mix of exploration, intense shoot-outs, puzzle solving and high speed chases.

Bad points?

Not many. Unfortunately the game is short and it only took me about a day to complete. So for those intense gamers it isn't going to take you very long. Camera angles at times are a bit dodgy but tolerable.

Good points?

The shoot-outs are realistic though at times very frustrating. Nathan can duck and hide behind objects for safety. It's almost like watching an action movie but you get to do the headshots. There are medals for different cool stuff such as headshots and killing people with your bare fists and 50 kills with different guns. Other than getting a medal though, there's not much reward for getting one - a few artwork unlocks and costume unlocks. However it was still immensley enjoyable.

Possibility of a sequel?

The game lends itself well to prepare us for a sequel though in the second game I'd like to see a bit more gameplay and level expansion.

Spoiler Alert:

If you're easily scared there's a few levels near the end that are very creepy, I found myself having to watch cartoons before I went to sleep. Just a warning for those of you who may let an under 15 year old play the game. It gets creepy.

Best bit:

No dinosaurs, giants apes, bears, wolves of bats to kill. Just good old killing the bad guys. Let's hope the sequel doesn't go down that cheesy Tomb Raider route.

Overall:

A fantastic game, well worth buying. Indiana Jones fans, this is a must buy. Ladies, finally we have someone to oogle at.
