Western Digital Raptor X 150GB / SATA / 10000rpm / 16MB Cache Internal Hard Drive Reviews

This hard drive is for the enthusiast. It is very fast (10,000 RPM) which is faster then the standard desktop hard drive, and it really shows when editing videos or working with large files.

Despite the speed, the drive remains relatively cool, and uses the SATA interface (although not SATA II). This makes it very easy to install, as you dont need any additional cards as long as your motherboard supports SATA (nearlly all new boards do).

However, this drive is not the quietest drive, and it does make quite a racket when copying many files or backing up the drive.

The clear cover very nice, and paired with the Coolermaster Stacker and a display rack, you can show it off in the top of your case. It is a novelty that you pay for, but never ceases to amuse.

The drive size is 150GB, which isnt the largest around, so I recomend putting your operating system and programs on the drive, and then getting a slower drive for storage. This will mean that the important files (like the OS) will run fast, giving faster boot times, yet you will still get the amount of storage you need.

Overall, this hard drive is very good, if you can afford to buy this and another data storage drive. It is no good for a quiet PC though. I would definitely recomend it if you have a Coolermaster Stacker case, as you can buy the display rack.
