Gears of War is a third person, futuristic tactical shooter. The first thing you’ll notice is the amazing graphics that are not only a brilliant surprise when you first play but they continue to impress as new scenery using different effects (water and rain etc) emerge. It’s as if Epic (game developer) wanted to impress technically throughout the game.

The second thing that will impress is the ingenious gameplay and control system. This is mandatory in a good game, good graphics in my opinion are pointless unless you have the gameplay to boot. In that respect this game has it all. There are no issues concerning bad frame rate that I noticed and no really long load times either. Once you overcome the initial shock of what appear to be difficult controls (at first I thought the game was really hard to play) you’ll be tactically eliminating Charlie in no time, and loving every minute of it too.

I played the game through on easy and still found some parts quite difficult and there are three harder settings above that so there is plenty of replay value as you get better at playing.

I think this game is the best game ever and certainly the best 360 game, I’m sure you’ll agree after playing it yourself, I’m confident enough to say that most people would definitely rate it in there top five games of all time.

These days you can get Gears of War pre-owned for as little as £25 but it is well worth the full £40 that they can still demand for it now. I’ll not be trading mine in ever! If the disc gets scratched or I lose it, I’ll buy it again.

To summarise, in my opinion best game ever! You need to play this game, truly original and mega fun. I can’t wait for the sequel.
