With the undeniable brilliance of the first Metal Gear Solid, the sequel had high expectations, and this vertainly does not disapoint. The game can be split into two main missions, firstly being on a boat, but the larger portion of the game being dedicated to the tanker mission. This is where dedicated fans may find the only disapointing factor of the sequel to the origional metel gear solid, because for the tanker you do not play as the much loved soild snake, but a young raiden instead. however, this does not affect the gameplay in the slightest.

The game is described as "tactical espionage action", which is basically to avoid any direct confrontation by sneaking round the enemy to get past them or to subdue them by a large array of weapons that are aquired throughout the game. This does not mean that you cannot start an all out gun battle, but it is not advised, as it is very easy to die once the hoards of guards turn up to fire round upon round at you.

Throughout the game there are some very clever ways to get round guards and stay undetected, notably the cardboard box that can be found is a popular method of hiding, because all the guard can see is a box!

The attention to detail in this game is supurb, with every room containing unique features and items that can be used to your advantage, as well as the behaviour of the guards. Their realistic behaviour to even the slightest of noise makes the game very enjoyable.

This is a fantastic game, but may not be popular with all game players, as the gameplay heavily relies on patience and thought to get round a problem. Numerous cut scenes may also prove to be anoying, but these are essential in telling the in depth story of the game.

If you are able to cope with a few minutes of dialgue at various points during the game though, and are not looking for a run and shoot reckless game, then this is definately for you.
