The Host: A Must Watch

After I heard the entire hype concerning The Host obliterating South Korea's box office records, I simply had to try this out for myself.

I wouldn't want to completely offer the plot away since I feel it is a 'must watch' flick, however what I can say is that Director Bong Joon-Ho has outdated most in this horror flick that has you hanging on the edge of your chair sometimes. A pioneering plot and creature creation that will maintain you wide eyed, and hanging in terror for approximately two hours.

This film brags the visual unique effects from the team accountable for Superman Returns, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, in addition to Sin City. I found the Special FX incredibly practical, and relatively a masterpiece of creativity.

An unfortunate father loses his daughter to the grip of this frightening creature, who steals her away and draws back into the lowest point of the Han River. The touching scenes in the outcome of the creature’s bloodshed appear very far fetched though, however then I suppose that's down to a little unusual humour, and overacting as anticipated from Korean flicks. The subtitles can, sometimes, be tough to keep up with, hence perfect if you watch in a silent room with no interruptions. If I spoke Korean, I perhaps would have loved it!

You get the similar nail biting feel like you would watching a Jaws movie, however the offbeat acting and comedy of a Korean flick, which I can't name since their so offbeat that I can't even memorize them. But, if you can see through the offbeat humour, you'll like the action and tension this flick has to present!

Two discs DVD encloses the Feature & trailer on disc one, and the making of The Host on the second disc. This incorporates: erased scenes, creating the creature, film story panel, puppet simulation, memoirs of the sewer, the film sections, unique effects, plus sound effects, casting tapes, training the actors, and plenty more in addition.
