This series two DVD relies on you having seen the first series to really fully appreciate the situation that has been put into place. With that in mind, if you have never seen Red Dwarf before, go to series one first.
If you have seen the series one DVD, or have seen Red Dwarf on TV, then you can be reassured that this is a great release. The episodes start off with a weak one, with an early prototype of Kryten in "Kryten". This is an episode still worth watching, but i feel lacks enough depth to enjoy any replay value. The other five of the six, however, are vastly improved. They contain the quick witted humurous remarks that fans came to love in series one, and, with the success of series one under their belt, the producers have been given a lisence to push the boat out in terms of costs for each episode. This can been seen by the vast array of new sets enabling much more exploration and the potential for gags that was unable to be used in the first series. The bonus material, once again, is not a major player in this DVD, as there is little entertaining and substantial material present. However, if it is the episodes of the great sci fi comedy that you are looking for, look no further.
