Hmmmm I do not like writing negative reviews and have used Beer Hawk before and they have been great but I am left a little underwhelmed. Simply I ordered the Oktoberfest selection with great anticipation and expected 15 different beers I have never tried to arrive, (the previous box had contained 15 different beers and was a massive party hit.)
The first issue was probably my excitement as after ordering I got an email telling me my beers were in the warehouse and ready for dispatch.... after 2 days I had heard nothing and contacted Beer Hawk only to be told they were still in the warehouse ready to be sent and would be shortly. They arrived 2 days later which is not bad but my excitement and an expectation of an Amazon esque delivery window meant the 4 days felt like an eternity. What would have helped was an indication of the length of time when ordering as I would have gone for the express option.
The second issue is just instead of 15 different beers I got 5 different beers but 3 of each. I won't complain as they are good beers but I am surprised why there were only 5 different ones....
Thus, all in all it was just a little disappointing and underwhelming.
Although the delivery company brought the two boxes separately on different days, the selection of beer was great. It is the second year my wife and I have ordered the Oktoberfest box because we enjoy it so much. Great work !
Disappointing range of beers in the selection. Since this had a wide range of finalists to select from it would have been more interesting to select beers from brewers that do not have national coverage. Whilst I enjoy and support all Fullers, Hooky and Coniston beers, they're pretty much available in any supermarket. It's also disappointing that only one medal winning beer was in the case.
I'm new to Beer Hawk but needed a quick way to deliver a "thank-you" present to a friend. The choice of beers was excellent, the website was easy to use, the account set-up/payment was efficiently handled and the goods were delivered in good time. Will use again!
Delivery was promised for Friday 18 sept but goods arrived on Tuesday 22nd without convincing explanation from carriers. One box was in order but the second had evidently been re-packed sideways in bubble wrap with one bottle missing.
A very helpful receptionist at beer hawk offered me a double refund for the missing Otley Oxymoron in my next order but did not send a confirming e mail as I expected.
It was weeks after I placed the order that the beers were delivered. I arranged delivery for a day I could work from home. Only 1 of the two boxes of 15 beers was delivered that day. I had to call twice in order to get a further one delivered, which Megan confirmed would be on Friday as I could work from home that day. I called again after receiving an email saying it would arrive on Thursday and was told that would be changed to Friday. However delivery was attempted on Thursday and they were left with a neighbour. So there was no need for me to have arranged to work from home on Friday. Then on the following Monday a further package arrived with 11 beers. I telephoned and was told that I would have to make myself available at home for a further day for that to be collected. So I am having to arrange yet another work from home day for that. Ridiculous!
My first order with Beer Hawk and the whole process has been very good. When I needed to contact customer services regarding a minor matter I got a quick response. The beer arrived when I was told it would - I even got a text from the courier to tell me which hour window they would be delivering (13.17 - 14.17 and they turned up at 13.24). Packaging was excellent and I am looking forward to tasting the beers! I would not hesitate to order from Beer Hawk again.
